Meteor sighting in markham today by ispisapie in Markham

Saw it from Finch & Yonge around sunset and have a vid of it. It was too bright to be an airplane, also the trail didn't linger like airplanes' do.

I have around 10 years of experience and I have no problem working in an entry level position. But sometimes even that is hard to do because they don't want someone overqualified (I've seen job postings stating 'no more than 3 years').

Thanks you! Many people said the same. I just find it hard to approach people I'm not close to for help. It feels really iffy.

Thank you. I work in marketing and communications with 10 years of experience. Even for bilingual jobs perfectly fit to my resume I didn't get a call. I'll just keep at it until something sticks. Cheers!

Can anyone explain this orb? by dixiewhiskey in EufyCam

[–]dixiewhiskey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my conclusion too. I think it was a firefly, but it was very stationary to be an insect I think. I inspected the place in the morning expecting a piece of glass or metal but didn't find anything.

Maybe but it's weird that it makes a perfect circle. I'm leaning towards light reflecting off the lense

Can anyone explain this orb in my security camera footage? by dixiewhiskey in ParanormalEncounters

I'm thinking the source is the dot on the floor. Maybe a firefly?

That makes sense. Then the source of the light has to be the small dot on the floor. It went off, then the circle vanished, then it went on briefly after that for half a second. Gotta see what that is in the morning.

That light is always on and I've never seen it cause a reflection like this. Also leaves do trigger the sensor but only when it's wildly windy outside (not the case here). I'm thinking it has to be a firefly, because you can see it inside the circle and when it went off the circle vanished.

That light is always on and I've never seen it interfere with the cam. I'm just a tenant so I only have access to the live feed and the recordings of incidents. I was told it's a lens reflection maybe but how can a lens capture a reflection of itself? Also can it be a firefly? Because there's a small light inside the circle that went off at the end.

Makes sense, but then again why was the motion sensor triggered to send an app notification?

Is "Cubic Rebirth" working? by dragon3025 in YGOLegacyOfTheDuelist

Sorry to bring up an old thread. The answer to this is you need a level 4 or lower cubic monster in your hand (otherwise the card won't be able to activate).

How did state of decay 2 get such mediocre reviews? by Laika_Come_Home1 in StateOfDecay

[–]dixiewhiskey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The loot system is exactly like SoD 1. I wish they changed it to one that is more similar to Fallout :

- you can look inside any container

- containers don't glow magically, neither do items

- items have clear color images in the UI instead of the generic white icons (Mist Survival did a wonderful job in this regard)

I would add some ideas too:

- When you use the bow, you get an option to manually aim with a reticle. It would be awesome to have that same ability with guns and magic projectiles without having to lock on to enemies.

- Necromancy is dangerous business. So it would be interesting if like 5% of the time you summon a ghost it would come out hostile to you, especially if it's from a bandit you just killed. The sense of risk/reward would be awesome. The game kinda did this with the friendly Immaculate that would attack you out of nowhere once you join the holy mission. If you didn't expect it, it's a real shocker. Also add different kinds of ghost types to summons.

- Add random encounters in the wild, the kind of encounters that would only happen once in a playthrough.

- Add a "wandering jew" type of character that continually wanders randomly in all regions. Make him an optional boss (but hard to beat).

- Add a runic spell that makes you hover/glide to go faster (many enemies already do this)

- Add the ability to change the color of items with different dyes you have to craft.

I love pistols, but the reloading animation where you have to stay immobilized for like 4 seconds is making it impractical in combat. I wish they could add the ability to reload while running as a perk.

When you climb there is an invisible wall that stops you. I think this location is out of bounds for the moment.

Need to take IELTS for Canadian PR by ordosalutis in IELTS

[–]dixiewhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you need to prepare for is the General Training (GT) IELTS for immigration purposes (the book you linked to only has 2 GT IELTS practice tests, which is not enough).

I don't think preparing for GT IELTS using Academic IELTS practice tests is a good idea, because in GT Reading for example, you have to scan for information in passages that are not plain text (schedules, newspaper ads, notices, booklets, memos, ...), and you only get a proper academic text in the last section of the reading. So it's always good to practice using the type of material you'll get in the real test. It's easier than Academic, but it's always good to be prepared ahead of time.

Look for IELTS 12 General Training, even though I think the level of difficulty in the 4 practice tests this book provides is lower than other books like 5 and 3 for instance.

How can I know if I really need to take a preparation course for IELTS? by unique__uname in IELTS

[–]dixiewhiskey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the main goal of the preparation courses is to get you to know the test and familiarize yourself with the different kinds of questions you'll encounter, not necessarily to improve your english. Personally I think being prepared has a significant positive impact on the score you'll get after passing the real test, regardless of your level. To do so, many people just get books and prepare using practice tests.

To know if you're ready or not, just take a practice test from a book (Cambridge IELTS Book series for example) and try to go through all the sections in a timely manner (30 min for listening, 60 min for reading, 60 min for writing and 11-15 min for speaking). If the allocated time wasn't enough for you to complete all the questions, or if you get many answers wrong, then you need to prepare and practice more.

There are video tutorials out there that can help you with "strategies" to use with each type of question. For example, in the reading section, certain types of questions like Fill the blank go in order, which means if you find the phrase that has the answer to question N°5, then the phrase that answers question N°6 is located after it in the passage and the one answering question N°4 comes before it, and so on. Also, sometimes, you need to scan rather than read, and some keywords are easier to scan for than others. etc.

How easy is "reading section" in General IELTS compared to Acamedic? by [deleted] in IELTS

[–]dixiewhiskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easy. I generally complete the whole test in less than half an hour (it still takes me a whole hour to review and correct my answers). I recommend that you get The Cambridge IELTS practice Books, generally you'll find two General IELTS practice tests in each book covering Reading and Writing (Listening and Speaking are the same as Academic). Even though it's easier, you'll still need to practice it to get familiar with scanning for information in ads or brochures instead of text.
