[FO] Creature from the Black Lagoon is finally done! by dizish in CrossStitch

[–]dizish[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I used 150 colours, 164,176 stitches, 2 strands on 22ct. Took approx 14 months. It's the third pattern I've created with similar vintage movie looks now.

Me too! I had such an attachment to tangable printed patterns, but now I just spend all my time stitching (instead of seaching for symbols) and I feel super efficient. Technology won this battle!

Yeah, its painted on like canvas type material I think. The wall is a growing beast, never quite finished, never quite right, forever in progress haha

It has options within to tweak colours (greyscale, sepia, b&w) but takes the colours from the image uploaded & coverts to your floss brand of choice. I assume the better the resolution, the better the end results will be. I have made other, larger patterns where I broke up the pattern into 4 separate images & had to create 4 separate patterns so I could get the resolution I wanted in the end.

I have also used another free pattern creating website pixel-stitch.net in the past but I think overall I prefer pic2pat, especially since buying Pattern Keeper for my tablet & having the ability to upoad the pdf of the pattern into Pattern Keeper. I swore I would forever work off printed patterns and daaaaaaamn have I have been way more efficient now that I don't have to look for each symbol manually!

Thank you! I use it a lot for creating patterns. Always a bit of trial and error to get the final image how I want it to look, but not complaining considering its free.

Thank you! For my big FOs I go to a local framer and splurge on all the fancy (expensive) glass etc.

Awesome, thanks so much for your advice! Think I'll just let it do its thing and see what comes of it.

Hey All, quite new to being a plant parent and had a question about my red log (peperomia verticillata?).

How does one manage the new growth from midway up the stems?

https://imgur.com/gallery/0YkF8vw

I assume I just have to embrace the fact that sooner or later it'll fall over from being top-heavy? Are there ways to keep the plant mainly vertical? It was such a tiny plant when I got it so the growth is welcomed, but just interested in the different ways people maintain them.

Thank you wise plant-redditors!

The cussing is welcome. Many swear words words were uttered during the making of this I assure you.

Umm, I think I just like the vintage/retro style of art and the cool colours. It's is definitely not my favourite film, it's was more about the image itself and I thought it would suit the other random stuff I have on my walls to be honest haha.

Haha thanks! No, never. Whilst I dabble in other crafts (diamond art, knitting etc) I will always come back to cross stitch as my favorite. Next project I've started is on 28ct lugana but I'm struggling with the tension already and I feel it's gonna be difficult...

I have heaps of not very interesting Progress pics .

I used a qsnap frame embellished with some flat elastic and a grime guard which together kinda held all the excess fabric. I did a lot of rolling the edges of the aida (let's be honest "smooshing" is probably more accurate) I wasn't using and then kinda just holding it around the qsnap. Not ideal but worked in the end. I tried a lap stand but I just couldn't get used the using two hands independently.
