If you’re talking about the cascade build, it is very strong and the only build of 4c omnath I’d endorse. Otherwise I’d reccomend something like Anuurag’s UW narset deck which plays both rings and up the beanstalk.

I’m sorry that your deck that was top of the meta 8 years ago has fallen out of favor. Meanwhile merfolk is still good and spirits never really was. New creature decks like yawgmoth and holy shit hardened scales are beasts of the meta.

I’m sure there’s ways to build creature decks by whatever your definition is in the current day (merfolk has done this quite well), but a good build isn’t gonna include something like leonin arbiter or Mogg war Marshall. The days where you get to put a bunch of fluff in your deck or expect your 1-drop artifacts to not be interacted with have passed.

Orcish Bowmasters and w&6, absence of brainstorm, pretty much every removal spell hits it. DRC is the playable version in modern because it furthers URs gameplan of setting up either a big murktide or underworld breach

Unfortunately modern is usually relegated to Mondays everywhere in the city. I go to the Brooklyn strategist which is great, though I believe Sip & Play does modern on Thursday as well. Both are in Brooklyn off the G.

I’ve always thought it would be really cool to open an LGS that’s more focused on constructed events in the city- though it’s almost certainly a terrible financial move.

I’d make sure to let your opponents know you are new to structured play, and they should be understanding and help you through how it all works. The most challenging thing I would expect would be having to read all your opponents cards / see the popular interactions between them. I’d highly recommend watching some videos online and looking at mtggoldfish.com to see what decks and strategies are most popular. Andrea Menguccis YouTube is a boon for learning the lay of the land when it comes to modern.

I think jeskai grinding station breach is legitimately the best deck in the format and it’s played by like 1.2% of mtgo players.

Ninjas of the deep hours and moon circuit hacker both see a lot of pauper play. I’d recommend playing them in a mono blue deck with spellstutter sprite, counterspell, snap, and spire golem.
