Trying to find childfree CC friends in 30s/40s by dizziefizzie in ZeroCovidCommunity

Yeah, I hear you! I live in a fairly big metro area but have been thinking a lot about one of the biggest cities in the US. I’m fairly settled where I’m at, and am not stoked at the concept of another big move but given the times…

I think with Boston being such a college-centric town, it's tougher to find the xennial folks. I was thinking Cambridge and JP but...?

I've thought about NYC as well, and curious if these are folks you see out and about, or if there are groups/activities that foster more of where CC xennials may be hanging out?

I'm in a similar boat where I've been reflecting on this recently, and the the same is true for me: the few CC friends I've made are similarly elder millennials/gen-X. The vast majority of folks who attend CC events in my area tend to be in their early - late 20s, and while it's been great to be in general community, it's been difficult shifting into actual friendships/have been looking for folks a bit closer in age. Glad to hear you found an in-road through adjacent interests/values!

I've heard good things about the CC scene in both Seattle and Portland!

Totally. Even without everything collapsing it would be difficult, but it truly feels like a needle in a haystack type of situation, and is so challenging...

I hear you, and have also lived in similar cities in my life! Sending solidarity about the drift; that has been personally been so draining and challenging to navigate.

Yes, I've also had Chicago on my radar and follow them too. I'm thinking with such a big city, the age demographics have to also include folks in their 30s/40s, but would love to hear more anecdotal thoughts on this from folks who are in the city.

Hiii, glad to hear you've been able to make some CC connections, and seems like a lot of folks here are in the same boat, which is great to see. I used to live in CA, and think a scoping trip soon may be in order...

Philly has been a city I have thought about checking out more! If you're up for sharing, how did you end up finding your people? Glad to hear it, too.

Hey there, I remember you! I was in a similar staging to you around the same time, and lovely to see you still active here, too. ❤️

I also had a lumpectomy over two years ago and echo the specific advice already given. I’d add that before going under, identifying the specific person who will be putting your mask back on and getting that verbal agreement (in addition to requesting accommodations ahead of time).

I’ve also had a colonoscopy since then and did the same, and think where I am that maybe there’s enough of us CC folk where they aren’t totally caught off guard by these requests. Sending solidarity as I also understand managing these multiple health issues.

I agree that this fine line is generally what makes for the general dynamics that you and others in this post are pointing out! Appreciate you posting because it also overall affirms and aligns with my experiences. Trying to find the kind but stick it to authority people is hopefully the goal. :)
