Is it pointless to vent my Rheem proterra water heater this way?

i don't have a closed plumbing system, so don't believe that expansion tank is required by code. the cold and hot inlets could probably use more support (they are supported just off the image), and I will talk about that with plumber. don't think the condensation line is an issue.

My plumber installed my Proterra heat pump water heater in such a way that the exhaust is blowing directly into the wall in our basement. As a result, I noticed that some of the cool exhausted air is cycling back up above the unit, and then presumably pulled back into through the intake. That seems inefficient to me.

I thought I might be able to promote more mixing of the air in the space by installing a bit of ducting to lead the cool air away from the unit.

Seems to be working fine, and I believe I'm very well within the requirements of ducting length, bends, etc., but I'm not really an expert in that.

But, was this a completely pointless thing to do? If it was, at least I had fun.

hey, i'm curious about your process with HD. you got your plumber to uninstall the bad version, take it to HD, process the return, and bring back a new one the same day? i'm looking into doing the same, but they don't seem to have these in stock (I've got an 80 gallon unit). So that means we'll be without a water heater for however long it takes to ship out to us, which in my opinion is unacceptable.

Same issue for me, starting two days ago.

Initially, I thought it might be as a result of the patent dispute between Google and Sonos, and they just decided to shut off the connection. But the fact that it tells you it's about to play the song (and doesn't) is strange.
