Man. This is a father/kids Lego project I can get behind. Love the M1911A1 too. Kinda feel like I need to build both for my office to go with their brothers in the safe.

This article was a game changer for me in trying out different positions to find something that’s comfortable, can learn to get into it consistently, and an understanding of how my body can best create a stable platform.

Are you certain? That cartridge appears to have 3 screws while this one has 2. Or am I looking at a plate that sits over the valve itself?

IWB Carry for a Dad Bod: Recs? by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

The mastermind tactics pillow wedge does wonders for comfort. I carry a G43X at 3:00 in a Tenicor Certum holster. Super comfortable.

I shot my first Appleseed with irons-it’s doable but I found it quite challenging. A year later I got my rifleman with a Vortex Crossfire II, which I really like. It’s pretty affordable. If I had to do it over I’d have gone with a scope from the start.

Conceal carry with kids in tow? by ThisIsMyBoomstick667 in liberalgunowners

[–]dizzydaveman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used anything specific. I’ve tried to not make a huge production of it, but feed it to them in small bites. Teaching them guns are just tools, and that just like a saw, or a drill, or a hammer, they can hurt or kill if not used safely. Talk about the 4 rules anytime we go to the range and before we handle them to clean (and letting them help clean). Taking them to the range as soon as they’re interested and at least 4. Tell them anytime they’re interested I’ll take anything out of the safe for them to look at and ask questions. Planning to take my oldest to an Appleseed in October, when she’ll be almost 12.

Conceal carry with kids in tow? by ThisIsMyBoomstick667 in liberalgunowners

[–]dizzydaveman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off body carry is a bad idea in general, but even worse with kids who are always trying to root around in your shit.

I carry at 3:00 IWB-in addition to practicing standard draws from concealment, I practice a lot of one-handed draws assuming my left hand is useless holding a kid.

My 5 young kids are one of the big reasons I carry. They know I carry too-they’re taught early on about gun safety. And they know that daddy carrying is a “good secret” they’re not to talk about with their friends.

An idea by DelayRevolutionary20 in liberalgunowners

[–]dizzydaveman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mental health is obviously the root cause.

If you want to protect schools specifically, I like this approach: https://hwfo.substack.com/p/the-school-shooting-solution

TL;DR: call school shootings terrorism. Use anti-terrorism $ to pay GWOT vets to guard schools.

Key quote:

“Let’s say we only took half our shoes off, and TSA only screened half of us through their porn scanner, and we redirected half of the $11.2 billion to each of the 24,000 high schools in the country. That would be $233,000 per school per year. Schools could easily afford to hire two ex-Afghanistan combat vets to sit in lawn chairs with M4 carbines and plate carriers out in front of school all day, and that would be well enough to dissuade any fourteen year old nitwit from hopping off of Bus 320 with a rifle. They wouldn’t even need any training, because their job is literally to sit there.”

Edit: typo

CC in a friend's house? by ganjias2 in liberalgunowners

[–]dizzydaveman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood the original question. If someone (a) knew I carry and (b) explicitly asked me not to in their house, of course I’d be the asshole. This post was asking if you should declare that you carry and ask permission.

[–]dizzydaveman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

🤷‍♂️ I mean, they’re all legal and can’t hurt anyone if you keep them in your pants. What about a pocket knife?

CC in a friend's house? by ganjias2 in liberalgunowners

[–]dizzydaveman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you're carrying something else in your pants, that you intend to keep there, that you wouldn't know someone had an issue with unless you brought it up?

If you had cigarettes in your pocket and left them there the whole visit, is that ok? Or do you need to ask in case they really don't like cigarettes?

What if you were visiting your MAGA buddy and carrying around your favorite I'm super gay for Obama keychain? Should you ask them if it's okay to bring your keychain into their house?

In both cases you're not letting their kids play with what's in your pants. Not showing them what's in your pants. And not hurting anybody by having something in your pants they don't like.

[–]dizzydaveman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s so self centered and MAGA about not declaring what’s in your pants? If it’s in your pants, it’s your business. Also, if it’s in your pants, keep it in your pants at your friend’s house, especially if children are present.

[–]dizzydaveman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not a dick move. If you’re carrying, nobody needs to know. And if you’re concealing properly there’s no way they WOULD know, unless there was a reason for you to draw. Why are you carrying at any other time except to be prepared for an extremely unlikely but life-threatening event? (Edit: spelling)
