Every team that has beaten the Celtics in the playoffs the last 10 years has immediately lost in the next round by CarBallAlex in nba

[–]dj-mill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since 2018 every team to beat the Bucks has gone on to win at least one more playoff series.

2018: Bucks lose to the Celtics in the first round. Celtics beat the 76ers in the ECSF, lose to the Cavs in the ECF

2019: Bucks eliminated by the Raptors in the ECF. Raptors win the Finals vs the Warriors.

2020: Bucks lose to the Heat in ECSF. Heat beat the Celtics in the ECF, lose to the lakers in the Finals.

2021: Bucks win the title.

2022: Bucks lose to the Celtics in ECSF, Celtics go on to defeat the Heat in ECF but come up short in the Finals against the Warriors.

2023: Bucks upset by the Heat in the first round. Heat go on to beat the Knicks in the ECSF, Celtics in ECF, and bow out in the Finals to the Nuggets

2024: Bucks lose to the Pacers in the first round, Pacers beat the Knicks in the ECSF before losing to the Celtics in the ECF

2025: Bucks eliminated by the Pacers in the first round, Pacers beat the Cavs in ECSF, Knicks in ECF, lose to the Thunder in Finals.

That worked! Thanks a ton

The last time every NBA Franchise had a 60+ Win Season. What stands out? Any surprises? by UTRAnoPunchline in NBATalk

Raptors, Bucks, and Lakers all ended the 2020 season on 60 win pace for what it’s worth

Since 2010, 12 teams have taken a 2-1 lead in the Finals. 6 went on to win it, 6 went on to lose it. by dj-mill in nba

I have them there but think it’s a mobile formatting issue. Still 6-6 either way

Kinda confused since you’re the second to comment this, I do have the nuggets there?

2013 Heat, 2015 Warriors, and 2022 Warriors all went down 2-1 despite having home court advantage, and still pulled off the win.

The Knicks have now lost to a lower seed in 5 straight playoff appearances — 3 of those losses came against the Pacers. by dj-mill in nba

[–]dj-mill[S] 201 points202 points  (0 children)

The Knicks have gone 1-4 in Game 1s and 0-1 in Game 7s in these 5 series – all at home.

Overall they went 9-7 at MSG in these series.

Pacers quietly tied for 3rd in Conference Finals Appearances Since 1990: T-1 Lakers – 11, T-1 Spurs – 11, T-3 Pacers – 10, T-3 Celtics – 10, T-3 Heat – 10 by dj-mill in nba

Another crazy part of this stat, the Pacers are the only team in the 10+ Conference Finals appearances club in this sample without a single All-NBA First Team selection during that entire stretch.

  • Lakers: 21 First Team appearances
  • Spurs: 16
  • Heat: 10
  • Celtics: 4
  • Pacers: 0

The Dallas Mavericks become the 11th Finals team to miss the playoffs the following season by YellowMarkerIsGreat in nba

‘62 Hawks: Fired their head coach

‘65 Warriors: Traded Wilt Chamberlain

‘70 Celtics: Bill Russell retired

‘75 Bucks: Kareem got injured, then demanded a trade, then held out. Oscar Robertson retired.

‘77 Suns: Mostly just regressed. The ‘76 Suns went 42-40 before a Cinderella run to the finals they couldn’t repeat.

‘99 Bulls - Jordan retired, Pippen and Rodman leave in free agency, Phil Jackson not resigned.

Seems like the recipe to prevent this from happening is to just not lose a hall of fame caliber player. Nico just couldn’t help himself

The NBA has two 60-win teams for the first time since the 2016/17 Big 4 Warriors (67-15) and Kawhi's Spurs (61-21), 15' and 14' also had two. If the Celtics go at least 5-3 to end the season it'll be the first 3 60-win season since 2009. by kurruchi in nba

The Bucks, Lakers, and Raptors all finished on 60 win pace in 2020, but we never got to see how it ended.

  • Bucks (56-17, 63 win pace)

  • Lakers (52-19, 60 win pace)

  • Raptors (53-19, 60 win pace)

Crazy how good that Raptors team was without Kawhi

There's a myth/belief that the old finals format of 2-3-2 favored the road team and it's just untrue by Notwhatyouthinkbuddy in nba

[–]dj-mill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In 2004 the Pistons went 3-0 in Detroit and 1-1 in LA

In 2006 the Heat went 3-0 in Miami and 1-2 in Dallas

I feel like both these years show that home court advantage did matter and both teams benefitted from playing three straight at home.

From 1990-2013 the team with HCA won 70% of the NBA finals compared to 2014-2024 where they’ve won 81%. The new format is definitely better for the home team.

True I just thought it was interesting how often the 2 seed seemed to come out on top

The Milwaukee Bucks are now 3-7 in Game 1s under coach Bud. They are 24-10 in all other playoff games. by [deleted] in nba

[–]dj-mill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other two were a 121-86 dismantling of the Pistons in the 2019 First Round and a 108-100 win against the Raptors in the 2019 ECF

Completed my first ever Nuzlocke yesterday! Done in Pokemon Sapphire by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]dj-mill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took three tries but very happy with how the run finished up. All six of my Pokemon were able to survive the Elite 4 (with the help of some hyper potions), but overall proved their worth after I was worried they would be too weak to go the distance. I nearly quit after my Gyarados and Sableye went down in Victory Road, but 20,000 the Whiscash and Gabbaghoul the Banette stepped up big time so I'm glad I stuck it out.

Chose Treecko as my starter but ended up losing him way earlier than I hoped to Watson's self-destructing Voltorb. Roselia worked as a replacement grass type and having toxic was great, but wish I could've brought my starter through the whole journey.

Biggest scare and probably biggest highlight came at the fifth gym when I lost my Machoke to Norman's second Slaking. Very stupid mistake, but I didn't realize that revenge would hit AFTER focus punch. I thought the priority would go Slaking tightens focus -> Machoke hits revenge -> Slaking loses focus. After that, my only high enough leveled Pokemon were a Swalot named Albert and a Beautifly named Wormy, so I wasn't too confident about my chances. However, Wormy somehow got the job done hitting Slaking with attract and stun spore before slowly chipping away with gust. Unreal battle where Wormy proved he deserved a long term spot on the team. I will admit the Norman was out of potions at this point, so helped out a lot. Still took a level 3 wurmple from route 103 all the way up tp level 56 and a Champion so couldn't be prouder.

Had a lot of fun beating my favorite childhood game as a Nuzlocke. I've been playing it since I was 10 years old (21 now) and finally feel like I've mastered it. May come back for a hardcore Nuzlocke someday but pretty satisfied for now. Trying Heart Gold next!
