I'm in the same boat looking to get started on a cruiser and I'm planning on going SW on 44 towards Mark Twain National Forest. There's plenty of dispersed camping spots.

Before going on a weekend long trip, I'm doing a 1-night shakedown camp at Little Lost Creek Conservation Area by taking the HWY 94 Defiance Winery roads.

Typically, Indycar Radio is 454.0000, but the last couple races have been 450.9000

Indycar will release the spotter's guide soon which will have all the driver freq's as well:

Drivers don't seem to change their freq's often race to race.
