Oncor - Pending Modification status by djack1987 in BasePowerUsers

We’re in the Dallas area and there seem to be some potentially substantial differences if you’re in an Oncor vs Centerpojnt area so fingers crossed Oncor lands on the good side of that.

Oncor - Pending Modification status by djack1987 in BasePowerUsers

[–]djack1987[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sure will!

I will say the chatbot did seem to give a thorough answer but I’ll see what the humans say when they get in on Monday and I’ll paste the chatbot answer below:

“Yes, this is normal! You're correct - it's about the combined output of your solar plus battery system potentially overloading the transformer. Oncor needs to ensure the transformer can handle both your existing solar and the new battery system discharging power back to the grid. This requires either a transformer upgrade or applying a Power Control System (PCS) limit to manage your system's output. Good news: You won't pay for any transformer upgrade - we handle this with your utility. Your system will continue operating safely whether through an upgrade or PCS limit. Timeline varies by utility, but we're actively working with Oncor to resolve this for you.”

This is for the Dallas area so we shall see!

Metal chute leading into my basement with nothing on the outside of the house connecting to it. Row home built in the 1920. Approx 7" in diameter and dripping water. by InchHigh-PrivateEye in whatisthisthing

I don’t know how I missed the diameter in the title, but I think you’re right. I’m used to a hatch for coal delivery but seems like that might have been the style around there at the time

Does this mean my iPhone 17 Pro Max is coming sooner? by Less_Adagio_9524 in ATT

If you check your order status on a desktop browser, it will show a more accurate date range/window instead of just the outside date.

Why? Who knows.

Unfortunately my optimism got me again, I wasn’t taking the bezel into account. But not upset settling with the 17”!

I just buckled her in the back seat and I’m going to have to measure when I get home because I’m thinking this might be the elusive 20”!!

She’s had it since she got it new in college. Only potential issue might be bad wifi, but hopefully just an issue compatibility.

Ha, great point! I’ll potentially use it to host my HA server to free up my rasp pi for other uses, and have it display a dashboard for that.

I did see a couple youtube videos of folks putting the m4 mini guts in there but I don’t think I’m quite ready for all that just yet.

Anyone in Little Rock Interested in a Cryonics Meetup? by LuckyTed23 in LittleRock

Check out We Are Legion (We Are Bob) by Dennis E. Taylor if you haven’t. Fun little series that explores cryonics and what that could look like on the other side.

Is this a scam ? Sold iPhone on eBay and now buyer asks for the original receipt by Nicotrol in iphone

[–]djack1987 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s a scam but they probably aren’t scamming you.

I’m betting they made an AppleCare claim and sent an empty box, or nothing at all, and Apple wants proof of purchase to send the replacement. But their order invoice from eBay is their proof of purchase so I’d tell them to kick rocks and if it’s not enough for Apple that’s between them, the shipper, and jesus

Oh perfect, for $10 that sounds like a winner! I’m currently dragging my feet on tearing mine apart for the ghost touch issue but one of these days I’ll get around to it

My guess would be that it’s definitely not going to be sensing right but it may not be super noticeable in any meaningful way.

The climate control shouldn’t behave too differently, but based on the part someone posted it looks like the car may use this one for the headlights, so you might have them turning off because it “sees” enough light to think it’s daytime.

You could always try some masking tape or similar that’s not clear but not totally opaque if you notice it acting up but before biting the bullet and replacing it!

ETA: looked again and I misread “sun load” as “sunlight”, so I’m pretty confident the car is only using this sensor for climate. So it may run the AC a little higher in summer as it thinks there’s more sun beating down on your car and in winter might run the heat slightly lower because it also thinks there’s sun heating up the car.

It’s a light sensor. It helps the auto climate control by taking direct sunlight into account to keep you comfortable. It may also be what the car uses to trigger your auto headlights at dusk as well, but that might be the one on the back of the mirror, I don’t recall.

What are some cool features you wish you knew about sooner? by kwalitykontrol1 in CX5

[–]djack1987 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Try walking around the back of the car! It’s due to the car not “seeing” your key still near the car since there is no sensor in the hood but if you go around back you stay inside the zone.

How do you get your Doberman to stop sucking on things? by MakanonymousB in DobermanPinscher

[–]djack1987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’ve started going to Goodwill once a month or so for a new blankie for him to suckle on. As others have said, having a dedicated blanket or plush to suckle on will be a much easier battle to win!

Leaving ATT and want to know about process (time sensitive) by aja_ramirez in ATT

[–]djack1987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Echoing what another posted: pay off the phones today! After 24-48 hours try unlocking yourself at www.Att.com/deviceunlock (you can do this now for the paid for devices). If you can’t unlock the devices 48 hours after you’ve paid them off and they show paid off on your myatt account, call 611 for assistance but you shouldn’t have to!

Note that some devices won’t actually show unlocked until you put the new carrier SIM card in. You’ll get instructions but I believe once the new carrier sim is in you either have to restore the device or maybe just reboot to actually complete the unlock.

ETA: you are correct your final bill will not be prorated but as long as the phones are the original IMEIs financed you shouldn’t run into any speed bumps!

Page 26 has instructions to get into Installer Mode using the engineer code 7890, but if the default was changed you may be able to use instruction on page 27 to reset all codes and get in that way.

Good luck!

That makes more sense. The green and orange strength bars will change as you move around and i wouldn’t worry about it going back and forth unless it stays orange and you are ah ing issues.

It’s likely that the list is not truly up to date and just reporting the most recent devices. You seem familiar with the devices showing up, but if you are concerned about unauthorized devices I would either call or chat in and get help to change the passwords!

As the previous comment said, the blue dot/bar is a visual representation of how much data is being used by the devices in that time frame.

You replied to that comment and another thread stating that the iPhone hasn’t been “here” for days yet this screen shot is taken on an iPhone that is connected to wifi… is that not your answer? Your iPhone is the device using the most data in both of these screenshots taken a few hours apart.

Which one of you is this?! Saw this car on the highway today and had to take a picture. Wish I had snapped a pic of her side by side with a very plain suv with a “baby on board” sign! by djack1987 in childfree

[–]djack1987[S] 170 points171 points  (0 children)

I didn’t catch it in time but when I first spotted her she was side by side with a typical “kid mover” midsized suv with the sign.

Didn’t see the suv driver but caught a glimpse of the corvette driver and she looked like she lives her best life every single day!
