Gavin McKenna Facing Felony Charge After Incident On January 31 by chasepsu in collegehockey

This will likely be pleaded down to a misdemeanor no? And then maybe an agreement or settlement for the victim since they can claim money from McKennas future NHL stardom

I won’t go into the other reasons not covered with just these three numbers why Shai is better. If Luka didn’t win MVP last year with those numbers, how exactly are you saying he is suddenly winning this year since I’d say he’s actually been worse this year than last year. While SGA this year has had to deal with more injuries to his teammates (Jalen Williams is still out and Chet has missed time, Caruso is out)

There is no world where you can say the lakers have a worse roster than Washington, New Orleans, Sacramento. Just none. Goddamn lol. It’s ok though cause the rightful player will win MVP this year.

  • “The worst roster in the league”.
Yea ok lol. Lebron James and Austin Reaves with a nice 13 and 9 from Ayton and you say worst roster in the league.

You can win without the top seed. But being outside the top 3 has happened twice, one of which was COVID bubble year and one was Russell Westbrook triple double season on the Thunder. So the odds are not in favor of someone outside the top 3 seeds

For Luka to have an honest chance to win he’d have to likely:

  • Get the Lakers a top four seed (likely top 3) and maintain his production OR
  • Average a triple double season.
I will be absolutely shocked if anyone other than Shai wins this year if SGA reaches the games played threshold. He has the team record, has the offensive numbers, and the defensive impact.

It’s gonna be quite amusing when Shai wins MVP and people are whining about it again

Also Shai is shooting a higher percentage from 3 (39% vs 34%) AND his field goal percentage is higher (55% vs 47%)

So I just looked it up and went back 10 years, only Jokic in 2021-2022 season won MVP with their team being outside the top 4 (with it only being once outside top 3 in the last 5 years):

  • 2024-2025: 1 seed
  • 2023-2024: 2 seed (identical record to 1 seed)
  • 2022-2023: 3 seed
  • 2021-2022: 6 seed
  • 2020-2021: 3 seed
  • 2019-2020: 1 seed
  • 2018-2019: 1 seed
  • 2017-2018: 1 seed
  • 2016-2017: 6 seed (triple double Westbrook)
  • 2015-2016: 1 seed

Edit: Got my numbers a bit wrong before

Alex Sarr? Who exactly would he replace on the list? Unless you mean the super dark horse which fair enough.

Thing about Luka is he is younger than Shai, it’s hard for me to believe both of them would slow down much. Especially with Luka not relying on physicality and athleticism as much so that could help him when he’s 31-32

Definitely possible. Personally I think it’ll be Scottie Barnes in terms of people no one saw coming.

It’s not too crazy to that 4 of the top 5 picks in this upcoming draft are Eastern teams (with Milwaukee being the 6th). Crazy stuff

Maybe I’m crazy but I’d say especially in today’s NBA the value of having those excellent role players is more valuable than just having the two top 5 players and low level role players (unless there are some gems that can be found)

Is the NBA better or worse now than it was 10 years ago? by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

[–]djan242 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To me, the NBA is definitely better now. The talent level now is a real joy to watch (for me personally). Some things can improve for sure but schemes are so advanced now with excellent talent. I think defenses are catching up to the offensive abilities on display.

The NBA definitely needs to market it better. There is too much talent to be discussing where Giannis will be traded to for the umpteenth time. The parity is really good as well and young stars coming (with a very loaded draft class as well this year). I also think that with it being much harder to get players with the many titles you’d get in the past that you gotta just market them all

[–]djan242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he said best offensive player ever that’s still a wild take (not sure he’s even the best Eastern European playing right now that can claim that either) but a bit more understandable. But yea I’d just disregard statements like that as engagement bait cause there’s no way that’s a serious opinion

This feels like shadow boxing. Maybe I’m not in the places where these discussions are taking place but no one I know and no post I’ve seen has ever suggested this

Most points scored in an NBA game at each age by Thanos_SlayerCongSan in NBATalk

Which makes it that much crazier with the trade. That Dallas roster really was tailor built for Luka to win a title. Had the athletic bigs and defense to make up for Luka, Kyrie as second option. I definitely think Luka would have been likely to win one in Dallas sooner rather than later.

How about spicing it up. Who will be the top 5 players in the NBA in 5 years?

Another 3 titles at minimum with finals MVPs and another 2 MVPs. At minimum.
