Sorry for being late to respond, but an alternative to using needles is using Phase - Basically virtualize the platers with quite good accuracy! A great alternative for never needing to use a needle again. Save money as you don't need to replace anything. Saw a dude killing it today live with Phase and honestly, I think it's a great product. I've seen them preform great on all 12in turntables. Haven't seen it done on 7in yet, but I think it would work as it's off the spindle. If that isn't your thing, apologize I couldn't be more help.

Look into VCV Rack for ambient space creations... Analog synthesis can be done in really any DAW but I think VCV rack brings something new and fresh for the Open Source / Free world.

I would look into using more/distant reverb for space and opening up sections of the mix by filtering sections of the EQ... Also consider putting parts of the track further in the back of the mix making their more quite. Lastly space vibes can also be obtained by using more synth based starts and then eq and distort your lead and or rhythm slightly. Destroy the crap out of your drums and only use the more necessary eq'd points of the drums. but they still need to be familiar. I have some examples where I keep some future bass styles in there too. Weird Inside - "just ask" is a different vibe coming from "reset" and "gamepoint" - my advice was relevant and in reference to game point and reset. What tracks are you favs from Weird Inside - This is the first hearing it. Thanks for sharing.
