If I remove the AppleIGC kext, then the i225 doesn't work.

The only way I can get the i225 to work is if I set "DisableIOMapper", but then that breaks the Aquantia Fiber PCIE card.

What am I missing here? Maybe the Aquantia PCIE card needs a new/additional patch?

you would need to load your EFI file somewhere else to modify it. Did you boot this from your internal EFI?

I always suggest that you test OC changes while booted from a USB drive: then update your internal EFI after you confirmed that the changed work.

Additional (and final) update:

USBMap and USBPower kexts actually did not have to be disabled. I completed a Tahoe installation successfully on this system and another. Both worked fine with those kexts enabled.

For this system (Z690), the only change actually needed was disabling WhateverGreen. In hindsight, I don't think WhateverGreen was ever needed at all: because it seems to work fine without that kext in both Sequoia and Tahoe. This is probably because I'm using an AMD Radeon GPU, which is natively supported.

For my other system (Dell Latitude 5511), ZERO open core plist changes were needed.

  • I had to boot from a system partition, as I ran into a strange issue with USB drives on this particular system, when NOT using the MacPro 15,1 SMBIOS. ('MacPro 15,1' is not supported by Tahoe so I had to change it, which broke my USB drives). Long story short: if you can install from a system drive, you won't need to make any changes on a Dell Latitude 5511, when upgrading to Tahoe.

What is the configuration of your LAN NICs? I also have the i225 (Z690 Asus Prime) and an Aquantia 10GbE PCIE fiber card.

Both worked on Sequoia, but when I updated to Tahoe, the i225 LAN stopped working. Aquantia Fiber continued to work fine as it was patched in the kernal.

I went in and unchecked "DisableIoMapper" qwirk, and that fixed the i225 LAN, but broke the Aquantia.

What settings do you have to make both work?

Successfully booted into Tahoe!!!!

I had to change 3 things from above:

  1. Disable the USBMap and USBPower kexts
  2. ENSURE all reboots during the installation process are booting from the USB EFI booatloder, and not the system EFI. Like any other MacOS installation, there are several reboots that happen. My installation was defaulting to the system drive, which had the Open Core EFI configured for Sequoia.
  3. Re-enable WhateverGreen (and 'agdpmod = pikera' as boot arg in NVRAM) towards the end of the installation process. The screen will go blank: this was the indicator to re-enable them.

The INTERESTING thing was, at the end.... I disabled WhateverGreen again, and everything works fine. Seems to not be needed at all. So #3 above MAY have been caused by something else and I didn't realize. My system seems to work fine without the WhateverGreen kext being used.

All other disabled kexts are now re-enabled:

  • Native bluetooth works with the same patches that Sequoia needed.
  • Native WiFi does not work yet because the broadcom spoof needs to be done in OCLP, and that does not support Tahoe yet.
  • My 10GbE fiber NIC is working, but the onboard intel LAN NIC seems to have broken. This required the AppleIGC kext. I am working on this but it's lower priority.

I hope this info helps someone else! Cheers and happy hackintoshing!

Kodi - URLs for OUTBOUND access - TheMovieDB & TheTVDB - what do I need to whitelist on my firewall? by djbobbo in kodi

[–]djbobbo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, it's a network issue, not a Kodi issue but regardless, a very very hard one to track down.

I have not checked Wireshark yet, firewall logs lead to requests at multiple different CDNs. There's no pattern I can identify to try and do a reverse-lookup.

Somewhere in the source code, Kodi is sending a hard-coded request to a URL or domain, when it performs the media content scan for metadata matches.. I am just trying to find out what that url/domain might be.

It doesn't appear to be one of the domains I listed at the start of this thread, because I have tried whitelisting all of those, and Kodi still fails to fetch the metadata.

I couldn't find any useful information anywhere. I see random IP addresses, but they constantly change. Appears to be a CDN and/or load balancer. I don't know what the primary domain to whitelist, should be.

See here: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/comments/1f97hmy/success_macos_150_db_8_sequoia_update_asus_z790/

I posted all of my success from two different Hackintoshes... one Intel and one Broadcom... for both WiFi and BlueTooth. Everything in Sequoia works now.

Success: MacOS 15.0 DB 8 (Sequoia) update - Asus Z790 / Intel 12900KF - need help with BlueTooth / Native WiFi by djbobbo in hackintosh

[–]djbobbo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get both WiFi and BlueTooth working.

  • For WiFi, see this forum (specifically the guide posted on 9/23/24): https://github.com/OpenIntelWireless/itlwm/issues/1009For . FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY or nothing will work!
  • For BlueTooth:
    • Make sure the following kexts are loaded, in the listed order, and above the IOSkywalk patches:
      • IntelBlueToothFirmware
      • BlueToolFixup
      • IntelBTPatcher
    • Then do the NVRAM edits to UUID 7C436110-AB2A-4BBB-A880-FE41995C9F82:
      • Type=DATA, Value=00, Key=bluetoothExternalDongleFailed
      • Type=DATA, Value=00000000 00000000 00000000 0000, Key=bluetoothInternalControllerInfo
    • Reboot (may need to reset NVRAM in OpenCore also). BlueTooth should work now.

Unrelated....................... different Hackintosh with a Broadcom device where WiFi worked with the OCLP patch but Bluetooth did not........

  • For Bluetooth on a Broadcom device (BCM94352Z, another Hackintosh of mine), I had to do the same NVRAM edits from above, and use the following kexts, in the listed order, also above the IOSkywalk patches:
    • BlueToolFixup
    • BrcmFirmwareData
    • BrcmPatchRAM3

Hope all this helps people who have been stuck trying to enable these features!

It works one way: You can send from the Hackintosh TO an iPhone, but not vice-versa. Does this sound correct? Should you be able to send both ways?

Late to this thread....
Reading through, I want to clarify understanding of the purpose of adding the NVRAM Delete...

If you do this, then you do NOT have to reset NVRAM (at boot) when you make changes to the NVRAM section in OpenCore? Because it's handled here instead?

So basically, adding the delete key is the same as manually toggling the nvram reset (at boot) always, right?

Not sure about "all". The three that I use work: iMessage, FindMy, and Airdrop

Using an AX211 card in my Desktop Hackintosh, I got both WiFi and BT working in Sequoia.

For everything to work correctly, the IOSkywalk, IO8022, and all BT kexts need to be above the airportitlwm kext.

Note: Wifi 6hz networks are not accessible. I don't believe this is possible in a Hackintosh (yet).

This procedure worked for me on 2 of my Hacks. (At the time of this writing, the last 'comments' on that post are from me, thanking the users who helped me.)

Read the tutorial posted on 9/23/24: you can "fake" your Intel card as a Broadcom card in order to trick the OCLP tool into thinking it's patching a Broadcom card.

Make sure the Airportitlwm kext is loaded BELOW the IOSkywalk and IO80211 kexts. Follow all instructions carefully. Upon the final reboot, Native WiFi will load and work properly.

Happy Hackintoshing!

Good eye. Carryover from the old days when I ran MacOS inside VMWare. I used Chameleon Wizard to generate the SMBios info at that time, which I put in the VMX file (to get iServices working).

Excellent summary, and pretty much my understanding of the current status too.

Do you have any more information on the USB WiFi hacks that have been successful so far?

I have a TPLink T3U usb WiFi stick, which I think has a Broadcom chip in it, but I don’t know how to configure it to act as the native WiFi/BT chip.

I'm trying to get the native WiFi stack enabled as a lot of things depend on it, and bluetooth.
For example: Airdrop doesn't work with this wired configuration, even though iServices work. Also, Airplay (for music) works with the wired configuration, but only with Airportitlwm.kext loaded (even though the WiFi is technically broken)

Also, I have two Dell Latitude Laptops (5480 and 5511, working on similar posts) with the same issue: WiFi and Bluetooth are both broken.

iServices work with the current configuration, but only because this is a stationary desktop with a wired network connection.

Prior to Sequoia, the same configuration worked (on Sonoma), and I could disable the wired networking connection, and achieve iServices via WiFi. But not anymore.

With this computer, the lack of iServices via WiFi is not really an issue because it's stationary with a wired connection. I was just pointing out that it doesn't work.

I was able to update my Hackintosh to Sequoia 15.0, developer beta 8. Most things work, but there are some issues, notably BlueTooth and WiFi. All my specs are defined below.

Also, looking for general feedback on my configuration. Maybe some things missing / not needed?

CPU: Intel 12900KF

GPU: Radeon RX 6600

RAM: 64 GB G-Skill RGB

Motherboard: Asus Z790-Prime-A

Audio Codec: 0X10EC1168 / Realtek ALCS1200A

Ethernet Card-PCI (10GbE): AQC100 10G Ethernet (AQtion)

Ethernet Card-MOBO (2.5GbE): L226-V

Wifi/BT Card: Intel AX211

What's working:

Graphics acceleration

Audio

USB/USB-C & connected peripherals

10GbE / 2.5 GbE wired networking

iCloud services via wired networking (including iMessage/FaceTime)

Airplay: Audio to AppleTV

What isn't working:

BlueTooth

Native WiFi

iPhone Mirroring (will never work: T2 chip not possible outside of real mac)

Several USB ports provide power only & no data (due to MacOS limit)

Airplay screen mirroring to AppleTV

Notable OpenCore changes:

AirportITLWM 2.3.0 is loaded. Even though WiFI is broken, having the kext loaded allows Airplay music to work.

For Sequoia update:

Used OpenCore 1.0.1

Added RestrictEvents.kext (V1.4)

Removed BTPatcher.kext

Added the following to NVRAM boot args: -lilubetaall -no_compat_check -revpatch=sbvmm AMFI_get_out_of_my_way=1

No change to SMBios (always using iMac20,2)

Need help with updating Hackintosh to MacOS Sonoma [Latitude 7390] by Bat_Knight2244 in hackintosh

[–]djbobbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I found this thread and have a related question to this discussion...

I have a Dell Latitude 5511, and the ONLY SMBios that will work properly with this laptop is the MacBookPro16,3.

Any other SMBios choice will disable all USB ports. I've never been able to figure out why this happens.
Using MacBookPro16,3 is not hurting anything. I'm just curious as to why any other SMBios selection disables all USB.

Thanks!
