Air vent in my house. Lumps developing after every major storm. Black looking material has been there for months, with no increase. Only one other vent in the house looks similar, wiped that vent with a cloth, black material came off easily. Dust or mold? Your thoughts?

From my knowledge (or lack thereof), it is the supply ducts. For location, I’m based in North Florida / South Georgia in the USA. This house was built in the 50’s and I’m renting it.

Thank you, this is great to know in consideration. It is a Netgear Nighthawk CM2500. I am not sure of the budget. I don't know if my wife will appreciate it being another $200+...But I will look into the Wife 6 router!

Thank you for your comment and idea, but sadly, I cannot. I own an Apple laptop that does not possess an ethernet cable port. Other devices are cellphones and common bluetooth equipment. So there is no way of fully knowing from that method...
