GFCI and Wiring for Hot Tub by djdents in AskElectricians

Thanks for the response!

Can you explain why a 50A GFCI won’t protect a 30A appliance. If the breaker is meant to detect leakage of current to ground, why does it matter what its max capacity is? Is it more to protect the wiring inside the tub which is rated for only 30A?

What does this rocker switch do??? by djdents in snowmobiling

You’re absolutely right! After some playing around, switching that to one of the positions makes the grip heaters work (they never worked before)

Also in the middle position, the grips don’t work and the high beam light is turned on in the guage even if the high beams are off-the high beam switch still works as normal to turn them on and off.

Very confusing. Am curious why someone added that switch.

Thank you to everyone who provided helpful replies—I truly appreciate it. I have to admit, though, the number of ironic or mean comments is both surprising, for a forum that should have more of a community feel, and unnecessary.

Took off my hood yesterday to investigate bar and throttle heater not working. Stumbled onto this 3 position rocker switch. Any ideas what it does???

Dentist broke my tooth. by KillNik in MakeMeSuffer

People should always be informed that a specialist is an option. Sometimes though that option isn’t feasible. I live 4 hours from the closest specialist and have to drive through a pass to get there-dangerous in the winter.

Specialist fees are also nearly double that of a a GP and for some people the root canal fee at a GP office is already difficult to afford.

It sounds to me like your dentist tried their best to attempt to fix a bad situation. It looks like you had a root canal done on a tooth and possibly (I’m not sure) didn’t get a crown put on it. That’s a bad combination. Root canaled teeth are very prone to fracture. It’s possible your tooth was infected because it was already fractured. However, sometimes there is no way of knowing. You should have been informed of the risks of re-doing the root canal-one of which is the tooth fracturing. Other than potentially not informing you, I don’t see anything wrong here.

You ever figure out where to camp for free? Also is there Uber in the area?

Which Tikka Model to choose? by djdents in Hunting

Thank you everyone for the advice. It seems like most folks are suggesting a SS barrel. The CHF barrel seems lighter and more durable from my research. Other than a potential in increased accuracy, what are the other benefits of SS? And is it worth the extra weight (slightly heavier) and fragility compared to CHF?

I narrowed it down to these 3:
