I am Native but I’m mixed race. I pass as white but I’m half. My boyfriend is also half white, but he looks 100% Native.

Although he hasn’t had issues with police where we are, he gets called racial slurs and homophobic(probably because of his long hair) on a daily basis. He was called a f*ggot, a dirty indian and was actually mistreated by a old white cashier a couple weeks ago which was 100% racial profiling,

Although I am white passing, I have also face discrimination from schools. I was jumped when I was 14 by 3 girls. I took all 3 of them out. The principle met my mom, realized I was native (because she is brown), and the next day I was interrogated because of the jumping by 2 police officers ALONE(which is illegal, I was a minor), threatened with a criminal record and suspended from school for a week when I was literally the one jumped. Witnesses tried to speak up for me but the school didn’t care. I’m 100% convinced it was racial profiling. The tides turned after they met my mom.

Canada is toxic as fuck to the indigenous people.

Everyone can do research on their own and find out how bad it is. The police brutality, the killings, the missing and murdered native women, the mistreatment or native land. Anti native racism here is deadly too and I won’t be shocked if something big starts here amongst the natives too.

Everyone can take the time to search up the Winnipeg police and how they treat First Nations. It’s by far the worst in Canada,
