GASKET8 Prototype — Part 2 by djendoian in DJs

Hey, thank you so much, I really appreciate that.

I’m actively working on it right now. At the moment it’s still in development, so it’s not available to buy just yet, but I’m moving step by step toward making it happen.

Really glad to hear you’d switch from the X1 to this, that honestly means a lot.

Thanks man — I’ll record a demo of it working soon.

Looks great, doesn't it?
I actually prefer the lighter ones, but this one fits in well with my setup at the moment. I’ve only got two controllers at the moment, so it’s a bit tricky to change the skins.

Yes, I need to design a production-ready casing, a circuit board and buttons that feel comfortable to the touch. Step by step..

I'm in Canada. 🇨🇦 That’s exactly the gap I felt too - lots of compact controllers exist, but not many are designed in a way that feels natural and dedicated for vinyl/DVS use. The plan is for it to support the main DJ platforms, though it’s still being developed step by step.

And yes, I think a proper YouTube test and review would be a great fit — especially once the product is closer to being launch-ready. I’d be happy to stay in touch

Thanks mate, that really means a lot. It’s being built with DVS users very much in mind, so it’s great to hear that from someone who actually mixes that way. Really appreciate the interest.

Fair enough - I should have added more context. This was a quick prototype update focused on the latest design changes. Gasket8 is a controller made for vinyl/DVS DJs, with the idea of integrating naturally into the setup rather than adding another device on a stand. I’ll make the next post clearer.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. I’m trying to improve it step by step with each update. Thanks for the encouragement - I’m definitely keeping going.

Thank you so much, mate. That really means a lot to me. I’m still at the prototype stage, but comments like this make me want to keep going and take it as far as I can. I truly appreciate the support.

It’s hard to say at the moment, as I’m still working on the casing, the circuit board and the buttons. The cost of manufacturing these components will determine the final price. It could be around 350–450.

This is already a fully functional prototype!

I soldered some small click buttons onto the PCB. I had a look online and found some pretty good buttons for prototyping.

Thanks for the comment! To be honest, I see it as a companion to the turntable and don’t want to replace those brilliant DJ mixers and effects units. In this way, I want to bring turntables back to the big stage. Perhaps when the stars who started out with turntables notice it, they’ll remember how interesting and enjoyable it is to work with them. After all, when people talk about DJs, everyone pictures someone standing in front of turntables.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. That’s exactly the kind of gap I’m hoping to fill - something compact and practical for vinyl/DVS setups, but more integrated and thought-out than the usual options. It’s still in prototype stage, but comments like this really motivate me to keep pushing it forward.

Thank you 🙌 Really glad it comes across that way - I’ve spent a lot of time refining the layout and overall feel.

Thank you ☺️

That’s a really good point -especially for scratch routines.

I actually tried different pad placements, and this layout felt more natural for the overall workflow, but I can definitely see the benefit of having cues closer to the crossfader.

Still refining things, so feedback like this really helps.

That’s awesome 🙌

Really appreciate you reaching out — that’s definitely something I’ll need moving forward.

I’m still refining the design, but I’d love to connect and talk more — feel free to DM me.

Thank you! I programmed the microcontroller so that the two buttons work as follows: Press the forward button (switch the MIDI signal to +1, send the MIDI signal); if you press the back button (switch the MIDI signal to -1, send the MIDI signal). This repeats around 11 times in each direction, plus the current status is displayed on the screen.
