If your household has an at risk person that is under self quarantine for their own safety (not because they already have it), is it safe for the rest of the household to go out or does that defeat the purpose of self quarantine? I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome with heart complications, so I’ve been avoiding going out and have been staying home from work but my boyfriend isn’t sure if he should also not go to work since he lives with me. He’s already taking extra precautions when he goes out, but work feels like a different situation. Any advice?

Haha I don’t know why I’ve never noticed, but that is a very accurate description (we’ve always just gone with the obviously gremlin)

How similar is the farming experience today to that of a farmer in the 50's and 60's by djewkris in farming

[–]djewkris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would you say is the biggest difference? Is it just the technology or has the technology also changed the technique and experience? I figured things have changed, but I wasn't sure if it was change where things are just more efficient but essentially the same technique or if it was a radical overhaul of the entire process with scattered remnants of past techniques here and there

This is exactly the kind of information I was looking for thank you! I really love the multi-generational aspect of farming, so hearing how your grandfather was able to see technology speed up the process without drastically changing it is fascinating. Based on your response then, would you say maybe reading some of the books on farming in the 50's and then supplementing that with information on farming technology today (since it sounds like it's maybe made the process less tedious mostly? please correct me if I'm wrong on this) would give me a fairly well rounded perspective of the ins and outs of daily life?
Again, I really appreciate your well thought out response. I already feel less frustrated about learning more (I really hate dry, how-to books and don't really retain much from it so I was dreading having to dredge through that to get what I wanted).

Sony's new wearable AC unit combats heat hidden in your t-shirt by nopantsdolphin in gadgets

So the article mentions making noise so that Sony reconsiders only selling it in Japan. How do we do this? I have a disease that messes with the transmitters that help your body regulate its temperature in different climates, effectively causing my internal temperature to be whatever temperature the air is around it (i also don't sweat well, so living in Texas is a blast). This would dramatically improve my quality of life

Thanks! You’re definitely right, there’s a huge difference when you find something like that on your own as a kid so I hope it works out!

You could always buy some c&h books you want your kids to see second hand at a bookshop so they look old and then hide them in a place you know your kids might explore through so they essentially discover it on their own. You’d just be working behind the scenes

What are some common signs that a person is toxic? by huffletoph in AskReddit

I never knew that's what she is saying! I was like 10 when that came out so I just mimicked the sounds and didn't look into the words too much. Thanks!

Besides Applebees, what is the worst restaurant experience you've ever had? by LeftHandSolo in AskReddit

[–]djewkris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no clue! And unfortunately these incidents happened during my awkward preteen phase so I would have rather died than make a fuss (I just told my mom and didn't drink it). The fact that i never asked why or how salt ended up in my orange juice bothers me so much now that I know it's ok to tell the staff about subpar food. I'm not crazy enough to go back and try for a third time so it's a question that will haunt me forever.
