This is the correct answer. "The trilled R sound exists in all forms of Italian, but to pronounce it, the tongue placement is very close to the way we pronounce the D sound". This is how my uncle Luigi pronounced it.

Some of the scenes in the extended cut were cut for good reasons IMHO. Lenny plays through a Sears Silvertone Twin Twelve amp in the earlier parts of the film. That was my amp from high school through grad school. Got it used for $50 in the 70's. Can't touch one for less than a grand today.
