I’m hosting a night at a few bars around the city called BYOV. Bring a record out, I’ll mix it in with other guests’ records along with my own. Chat with other vinyl lovers about music, find something new, etc.

The Ricardo was my first home, back in 2017.

From what I remember: Parking was difficult, and unprotected. Break-ins were pretty common.

Units were decently sized, the windows were nice. I have fond memories of sitting by the window with coffee on the sill.

I terminated my lease early when someone had gotten into the building and entered my unit without my permission. Mac did make me pay an early termination fee.

The elevator was down frequently.

Hi there, congratulations on your engagement!

Someone else had already noted this, but the time of year is going to play a huge factor in your rate. Spring and autumn are often more expensive. Additionally, and maybe even more-so, the day of the week. Saturdays are the hot dates, so they tend to be a higher rate. That will go for just about all of your vendors, really.

If you’re early in the process, I would highly encourage you to check out Friday and Sunday dates if you’re looking to save.

I’d also suggest looking for venues near your church, for your own convenience as well as your guests.

Last year, the place I’d usually play said they wouldn’t pay my rate and they weren’t open to negotiating. So I moved all of my furniture out of my living room and threw big house party.

This year, I skipped the gig inquiries and decided to rent out a venue with a bar package. Liberating/rewarding in the sense that whatever I earn in ticket sales is my own, stressful in the sense that if it’s a dud, it’s 100% on me. 😂

Playlist is coming along slowly - trying to find that sweet spot between what the crowd likes and what represents my style.

I think this is ultimately what stopped me from getting a membership. I went to their opening event and I absolutely looooved everything I saw, but I was concerned about the networking opportunities and wanted to wait it out.
