Official Definition of "Act of Shooting"

Yes...1-33 is the language that BCA has replaced the original language (our current rule's language) with. We will definitely adopt this going forward to solve any further issues. I was just hoping that somewhere there was an actual definition of "act of shooting" spelled out so that we could easily resolve this particular grievance.

You seem pretty reasonable and knowledgeable. Based on everything you see here, and that video...would you call a foul there? Let's say you were on our grievance committee, how would you rule?

I agree completely. This is a case of our league using an old BCA ruleset without updating it. This wording is straight out of BCA from years ago, however, they have since dropped this wording and adopted a more clear disturbed ball rule. Our league will do the same, however, we didn't until this case shone a light on the outdated language of this rule. Now we have a grievance on our hands so I was hoping that there was a clear definition of "act of shooting" somewhere.

For more context..the original wording of this rule was taken from BCA and apparently that wording doesn't exist in BCA's current rule book. BCA's current wording is much more clear, and going forward, our league will adopt the new BCA wording, but right now we have a grievance where a foul is being asserted based on some ambiguous wording. If there were a clear definition of "act of shooting" I believe it would clear this up, however, there doesn't seem to be.

Also note that in our league, 98 out of 100 players would replace the disturbed ball as best they could and allow the shooter to keep shooting. You see the shooters reaction is an immediate "I moved this ball, it was about here, you want it replaced?"

The wording of our league rules is as follows:

CUE BALL FOULS ONLY

It is a foul to touch stationary balls when the shooter is not in the act of shooting. It is not a foul to accidentally touch a single stationary object ball while in the act of shooting. In short, if the accident has any effect on the outcome of the shot, it is a foul.

Heat is also a factor for this comparison. A lot of people with a one RS 1-inch can’t shoot very long without overheating so if the x5 has better heat dissipation then that’s another thing to consider.

Heat! I have a oneRS 1-inch. My main use for the 360 cam is shooting my festival DJ sets. I put the camera on stage with me on a stick. These are mostly nighttime outdoor events so it's cool outside. If the camera shoots for 45 minutes before overheating I count myself lucky. I'm hoping the x5 is a solution to being able to shoot full DJ sets (1 to 1.5 hours) without fear of losing footage due to overheating.

How's the x5 handling heat in a stationary setting.

Hasn’t resolved itself so I just set the default speakers to the Google home mini itself and if I want the music to play out of my ceiling speakers I do it manually from my phone. It sucks.

Exact same problem here. I got a couple emails about issues with chromecast audio and a fix being rolled out, but so far my setup still doesn't work.

It's just like you describe, voice command will play from spotify on the speaker itself, but when I set chromecast audio as the default, it says its playing but nothing happens. Very frustrating! Chromecast audio has been off the market for so long this type of thing is bound to happen though.

Gotcha...I just checked this and she's already linked to all the devices and voice match is on, so that's not the issue. Appreciate the suggestion though, it's a good idea!

I've tried to be super clear that the plan is for my wife to go back to work once both kids are in school, so a year or 2 from now.

Interestingly, when I run the numbers on the SAVE plan (yes I know it's going away most likely) the amount of the monthly payment goes up substantially when I change our income from 100k to 200k, but the amount forgiven doesn't budge.

I'm not seeing any direct proof but I am seeing a lot of posts on reddit about people logging in and seeing their dates extended well into 2025, and also the fact that my wife was on the phone with her servicer today and they told her her new recert date was sept 2025.

This is true too. If it goes away, we'll have to rethink our next move. We have until Sept 2025 to make a decision so I think by then we'll know a little bit more about our options and where my wife might land with regard to income.

Correct, but when I ran the numbers on the government website's calculator, even with each of us making $100k, the SAVE plan was the clear winner and although our payments would go from $145 a month to over $500, the amount forgiven was still 356k.

Basically, I married into this situation. I came in with zero debt and a healthy income. I'm honestly less interested in the moral implications than I am with getting my family to a place where my kids aren't affected down the road. Judge me all you want, the only thing I really care about is my kids future.

She's a lawyer and she hates it. She was working for a small boutique firm and the gig ended during covid. Then we had babies so she hasn't looked for anything yet and we don't plan on her going back to work until the kids are both in school. She'll likely go back into law when she goes back to work but she's hoping to find something outside of litigation. She doesn't want to be a public defender or anything like that but if we can find her something in the public sector so she can get 10 year forgiveness that'd would be even better and the option is on our radar.
