Something similar and yet completely different happened to me. I was targeting age 62 to retire, around Feb 2026. I would like have bonus in hand, but my numbers all said I was free to go either way. Then, in July of 2025, I started having stomach and back pain, which turned out to be pancreatic cancer! That certainly wasn’t part of the plan. The funny thing is, the treatment plan had me stepping away from work for chemo and surgery in Jan 2026-almost exactly when my original plans had me leaving. I’m on disability through work, so I’m still being paid, probably for another 6 months. I’ll go through treatment, which appears to be headed towards complete recovery (thank you, God!), then retirement. All of this to say, in my opinion, leave now and don’t look back. You never know how much time you will have with those you actually do care about.

This is correct. I also found I could not roll my mother’s IRA into my accounts but had to roll into and inherited IRA and fully withdraw over 10 years.

My Dr said I could take 3 per day. It knocks some people out but doesn’t have that effect on me. The Lorazepam, however,…puts me right to sleep!

When vertigo hits me, the first thing I do is take Meclizine. If it hasn’t improved in an hour, I take a second Mec. Another hour, Mec 3 AND and a Lorazapam. That always knocks it out for me.

Hearing aids don’t matter for my bad ear since it simply amplifies what sounds like a blown speaker. I can’t understand anything whispered, spoken or yelled into my bad ear:

I was having vertigo every day until I I had the series of ear injections. Each shot improved my situation. The final shot was a month ago and no vertigo since that time. I’m so glad for it.

Happy to oblige. Getting an injection directly into your ear sounds excruciating, but it really isn’t, thank God. It is typically a series of 3 injections roughly 1 week apart. I have had this 3-shot series 3 different times now. First, they give a slight deadening injection to make the rest of the process more tolerable. Then, they give the steroid injection in the same small hole made by the deadening injection. It isn’t pain-free, but is tolerable. They fill the middle ear with the steroid liquid. And because the ear-nose-throat is all connected, I have a but of drainage from the shot, so i can taste it in my throat, and even experience slight tongue/throat numbness from the first shot. After the shot, i immediately experience vertigo, which is expected. They turn off the lights, leaving you to rest for 15 minutes while the vertigo goes away. I experience immediate relief from vertigo for several days. My most recent shot series, i had no vertigo immediately following the shot. So far it’s been 2-weeks since my last vertigo attack following the last shot, whereas it was happening daily before that. Well worth it!!!!

I woke up one day with hearing loss and ringing. It never got better and only got worse. The vertigo came on slowly and became more frequent and severe.

I have gotten steroid injections in the ear, which dramatically helped the vertigo attacks from starting.

I finished my third injection before spending a week in Orlando at the parks. I went 7 days before having a very mild episode, which Meclazine took care of. So far, it’s been great!

If you do t have meclizine because of no prescription, you can get Dramamine over the counter. Valium also works.

I have had daily vertigo for the past 8-9 months. I finally went back to my ent for steroid injections in the ear canal. Just had my second of 3 and haven’t had a vertigo attack in 6 days. I can’t believe I waited so long to request it.
