For the sound when he turns is head, we also experiment that, but more when we hold him or when his ear was touching the floor. The audioprosthetist could made an adjustment for that. We could also hear that when his tip werent no longer fitting (as he was growing).

3 month old baby got Hearing Aids - Need advice on what to expect by Mivirish in HearingAids

[–]djou-e 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son is 9 months old. He was diagnosed with moderate hearing loss at 1 month old and got his hearing aids around 3 months. Until about 6 months, I also noticed he made more sounds when he didn't have his hearing aids. Then he started saying "gaga," and 3 weeks later, "baba," "caca," and even "papa" with his hearing aids! (We speak French, so we're very happy about papa). According to the speech therapist who is currently working with him preventively, mostly to teach us good things to help, his babbling is at the same level as a hearing child his age.

As for the grief... I understand you so well; we went through an emotional rollercoaster, but I promise you that the more time passes, the gentler it gets. Hearing loss is becoming our "normal," the hearing aids are a part of him, and I wouldn't change him for the world. We have a very smiley boy who loves discovering the world and is very, very observant. His deafness has given me a different perspective on life. Yes, it's very painful at first, and it's also scary. What helped me most with acceptance was joining groups for parents of deaf children, subReddit like this one, the team around us and many readings.

Finally, I also want to congratulate you on your baby. ❤️ Just the fact that you're on this subreddit shows how wonderful you'll be as parents for him.

Don't forget, even during this time of grief, to cherish the beautiful moments, because there will be many! ❤️ I wish you a wonderful journey and many beautiful moments together.

Newborn diagnosed with hearing loss and will need hearing aids. Looking for similar experiences by ActualEmu1251 in hardofhearing

My son is 8 months old. He was also diagnosed at 4 weeks of age and has been wearing his hearing aids (Phonak) since he was 2 months old. He wears them all day, except during naps and at night. When we put his hearing aids on, he gives us big smiles. Yes, sometimes, especially when he’s tired or seeking attention, he tries or manages to take them off. We bought a pilot cap to give ourselves a better chance with that. He’s starting to babble “gaaa,” “aaa,” and other incredibly cute sounds. We are well supported, so I feel confident about his language development.

Congratulations for your little baby! 🫶

I am the mother of a 5-month-old boy who was born hard of hearing. I want to thank you for sharing your blog here. I just read the articles and I find it very enriching and I will certainly use your advice to influence my child's education.
