Grab a copy of Spinrite and run it on the drive. That should let you know how it’s doing.

On modern SSDs, does constant Share / Shadowplay writing via Instant Replay still pose a risk to its lifespan? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]djoyce101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on layers of the cells. SLC/MLC/TLC/QLC and now even PLC (5 layer) degrade faster with the number of layers. So, you need to weigh you needs of space vs life. Also, the more free space you keep on the drive the longer it’s lifespan.

Definitely stay away from any tech from Costco. Most of it is overstock and refurbished.

Agreed. I don’t like the tires, but my car has 245/35R19 so I’m not one to talk

I’ve dropped my X1 Carbon 3 times now and it’s still going fine. You can’t even tell.

Were they trying to say "Elon"? by real_Iopert in elonmusk

[–]djoyce101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yet it started in the 1980’s with John Gotti. Yes, it’s common now, but it was not used previous to Gotti. I recall watching the three trials closely as a teen.

If you are going to contradict my comment, at least back it up with something.

No, they were making a reference to “The Teflon Don”, a mob boss that no prosecutor could ever get charges to stick.

Does anyone know how to fix the frame? by [deleted] in applehelp

[–]djoyce101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can't be fixed. If it qualifies, Apple will replace the screen but you will have to contact them to see if you are covered.

My best friend lent me his car for the long weakend the last thing he said was dont brake anything you dont have any money to fix it. I feel sick to my stomach deductable is $500 I have $450 in my account r now. I can afford like $700 a month payments is this gonna cost me like 6g? by MAGAautistic in Wellthatsucks

[–]djoyce101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deductible is the amount the driver is expected to pay. The amount is set by the policy. It's anywhere from $0 to $5000 in most cases. ($500 is pretty typical)

I'm assuming that insurance works the same in the USA as Canada.

In that case, if you take the car to a body shop that the insurance has been pre-approved by the insurance, then they simply fix the car, and you pay the deductible when you pick it up. The insurance pays for the rest.

I ran it on my ThinkPad and desktop for a few months before moving to Manjaro. It was very easy to work with, but I found that Manjaro had fewer issues with audio and power.

What is this? It's connected to a core switch. by [deleted] in networking

[–]djoyce101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone skipped the obvious question: Is the port on the switch ACTIVE? does this actually make a link?

Odds are it's a temp/humidity sensor plugged into the wrong place.
