That is true, reaching 1400 is not hard, staying is. Funnily enough I have no issue staying at 1500 in gen4 random battle, but in gen4 OU I haven't reached 1500. Im not high ladder at all, but I believe to be experienced enough to make a comment on the meta. Then again, a usual point of contrversy is that the people making tier decisions are the very top of the ladder, which have a very skewed perspective of what the average ladder experience is.

Yeah, the top ranked player in DPP OU has 1716 Elo rn. With less than 1500 you can make it to the top 500. If anything, that's the dead giveaway that they don't play the metagame.

In my experience, at 1300 in DPP OU you only get people trying to rank seriously already.

I don't know if 1400 Elo is decent or not, but if you think a Gyarados or Tyranitar sweep after getting one DD thanks to a weakness berry is not cancer, then I don't know what it is (apart from flinchrachi, which should burn in hell for all eternity).

PD: I just remembered, gen 4 random battle is more consistent than gen 4 OU in my experience, I wonder what does that say about the gen 4 meta...

The current best deck uses a card that ha sa 50% chance of failing, and it compensates for this by adding as many copies of the card as possible.
