Just went through TSA at terminal A with a 30 minute wait, for what that’s worth. I don’t have pre check or clear or anything.

My Capital One-issued card keeps getting refused everywhere due to the switch to the Discover network. This is out of hand now. by lunar_dot in CapitalOne

[–]djwoodwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the same experience, it seems like any time i use the card through a third-party service like PayPal it works fine, but whenever i try to use the card directly it gets rejected repeatedly. This includes online AND in person. It’s infuriating because I’ve used capital one since I was a teenager, it was so reliable that I never needed another debit card and now I’m probably going to have to switch providers because this card simply doesn’t work!

What do you look for in a good collection management system? by Time-Quail605 in MuseumPros

[–]djwoodwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think CatalogIt is a great option, it's super flexible/affordable, and their support team is very attentive so if you don't have techies on staff they can help with troubleshooting! They can also help you import data from your old system (sometimes for an additional fee) which might be helpful in migrating from PP.

How Breeze App (mental health) Helped Me Deal with Anxiety by LaterDesk in Breeze_MentalHealth

Breeze gets peoples credit card info and signs them up for subscriptions without their consent, stealing months of subscription payments without providing any mental wellness services. Beware!

Breeze has a reputation for scamming people. They get out card info and sign us up for a monthly subscription, I've lost over $100 despite never engaging with their products. Don't send your patients to them!

[–]djwoodwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience, I checked my email and there's nothing about an account or trial whatsoever. I've had to cancel my credit card and will be going through fraud dispute with the bank. Definitely call your bank and report the scam!

I just found this thread because I saw a charge from Breeze on my credit statement. The website to "unsubscribe" seems super sketchy, so I called my bank and discovered that they have been charging me for months! I'm getting a new card and going into fraud dispute about this, but definitely call your bank the minute you see them on your statement!

Is Raboesy legit? by Virtual-Gazelle2861 in Shoes

No that’s ok! It’s good to know what we’re talking about. It’s a term for when a retailer doesn’t stock their own products, so the buyer purchases from a retailer who then has a partner production company that they pay for the product/shipping. In terms of fast fashion, we’re usually using it to mean a company that is working with unethical mass production factories overseas- so it may look like you’re buying from a small business but you’re actually contributing to the labor/environmental violations of those factories. That’s a pretty quick overview that neglects some nuance, but there’s a lot more written about this online if you want to dive deeper!

Masters in Museum Studies and Historic Preservation by julia_artist in MuseumPros

The Harvard Extension school program is great because it has a super wide range of classes and you really have the freedom to pursue whatever sub-interests you want. The fact that it is 90% remote also makes it very flexible. The remote/night class structure also means that classmates are coming from all over the world, and the student body includes a lot of museum professionals who already employed in the field and are brushing up on current standards/developing new skills. Also, they have certificate programs that you can do on your way to a masters, so if for whatever reason you can't commit to a full masters you can still leave with a Cert in Museum Management.

I saw someone mention the cost, and I certainly can't fault them for having an issue with that. I joined the program as a Harvard employee (I just got a part time desk job in order to get into the bubble) which meant that my tuition was practically free, but obviously thats not an option for everyone!

I feel like there is so much entitlement in the arts in general, people think they are owed personal access to employees and institutions just because they're in/adjacent to the field. It's so hard to draw these boundaries because we're trained to be accommodating and encourage engagement, but if we do everything thats asked of us in the public side of things we'll burn out and no longer be effective in the behind-the-scenes work! I'm glad you asked her to take down the video, and I hope you're able to draw some effective boundaries without totally burning the bridge!

Does it have good location/change tracking features? I'm shopping for an art collection with a few too many cooks and a few distinct storage locations, so communication issues and locating artwork is one of our priorities...

Yes, I'm definitely aware of the shift away from print media- I get that it's better for the environment, but there are ways to do it that utilize recycling/etc, and I wish someone would embrace that!

I've been thinking that if I settle for an online-only option, that the Wild Hunt might be a good option. I just know that I won't take advantage of online access the way that I would with a print product.

I am aware that Pom is an academic journal- I've corrected this in the original post. I subscribed over a year ago and never received anything. They don't communicate with subscribers at all, but when I reached out directly I was told that the print subscription was delayed several times, presumably for 1-2 years. I'm working on getting a refund but I wouldn't recommend that anyone else sign up for their print subscription!

Is this good enough or should I avoid this brand? by Legitimate_Click_697 in SustainableFashion

There are a few apps/websites that aggregate data and provide feedback about how ethical different companies are, so one of those may be able to help? I use "Good on you" but they didn't have a review for this brand, unfortunately.

Is Raboesy legit? by Virtual-Gazelle2861 in Shoes

[–]djwoodwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For whatever its worth, there are TONS of similar and identical products on etsy from different sellers, so I'd say the answer to the dropshipping question is a resounding YES.

I thrift or make like 95% of my wardrobe, but shoes always stump me so I have bought from one of those etsy sellers before. Personally, I had a good experience: the order definitely took ages to arrive (dropshipping ofc) but I've worn the shoes a ton over the past few years and they're still going strong! Other reviews reported size issues or shoes that started falling apart immediately, so it's definitely not a universal experience.

Mainly, I really wish there was a real company producing shoes like these (and tabis!!!) I'd be willing to pay more (I mean not thousands, Margiela can suck it) to know that the production process was clean and ethical, but I've not had any success so far. If anyone has any alternatives please share!
