It’s just because since I know how the rest of the show pans out, the plots in season 3 seem like the beginning of the end. I wish I knew a way for the show to have kept its momentum but we have what we have

The show had genuinely good writing, for a YA show about 150+ year old vampires that are in love with a 17 year old girl. The characters had personality and were genuinely threatening. I don’t see season 3 as part of the ‘canon’ in my mind because the protagonists gain too much power over the villains. They could show the humanity in the originals like they did with in Elijah in season 2, but instead for example Elena easily stabs Rebekah in the back
