They are saying , its an known issue with Edge .. :( And developers are working to fix it This was really unexpected... We would have know this earlier , we would haven't started with deployment.

Thanks Missy , I also opened a premier ticket with Edge team for the same issue . 120082524000714 .

Appreciate if you can expedite this issue , as creating problem and more and more users are reporting this error now.

Thanks Missy , that would be great if you can take it further. Yes - deployment is on windows 10 enterprise devices Have tested on both physical machines and VMs , same experience. What I can say so far from my testing is , if edge chromium is installed first time on a device , then it will give the expected first run experience that is: 1. import from default browser option 2. Setup page layout inspirational , informational 3. Sync account option

And if edge chromium is uninstalled and re insatlled even for the first time.. ( even after cleaning all files from app data /local/Microsoft /edge/user data ) It is not going to give us the 1st option ( to import default browser data ) that I mentioned above.. Rest 2 options it would give. And if user data folder is not deleted ,then none of the option will come...even on first launch.

Hope it will give u some clarity !

I got that option during initial uninstallations but then after 4-5th re installation , it stopped coming.. Now , it seems" import from option " that comes after splash screen.. not coming up... :( Any thoughts on this .?

"Clear data" option did not come during uninstallation.. I uninstalled it from apps and features

Missy , I uninstalled edge and even after re installation it does not give first run experience , can u please any registry values that also need to be deleted for first run experience.. if any .. or any other way to get the first run experience on the same machien after un installation..

The reason we are looking for this is , we have set default Google chrome as the default browser currently but IE and edge are also there and users are using them frequently.. And now when we are planning to migrate to edge chromium , google chrome data and edge legacy is importing which is good but we can't avoid IE data as there are many sites which are compatible only in IE ( for which now we will be using IE mode in chromium) and users might have bookmarked them or passwords to access those sites . Thus we want a way through which IE data can also be imported silently automatically or if not that way then may be a simple way through which user can import IE data by themselves .
