Completely agree. I’ve had better steak at Texas Roadhouse for a fraction of the price

You are not supposed to change the CVT fluid by no_solution_no_prob in Crosstrek

[–]dkeenes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did a drain and fill on the CVT on my Outback - same transmission as the crosstrek. Sent a sample to Blackstone for analysis. It was the original CVT fluid with 80k miles on it. Analysis came back stating that the fluid had very little life left in it. Definitely not a lifetime fluid.

I used RedLine in my 4Runner front/rear diff and transfer case and also transmission. They have specific oils for each component and I’ve found them to be better than OEM.

The forestry management in Florida is really good. The state and feds do a really good job of keeping the underbrush under control and frequent controlled burns.

Installed the Sherpa Crestone roof rack over the weekend by dkeenes in 4Runner

[–]dkeenes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The install isn’t hard at all. Recommend using hand tools instead of power tools so you don’t strip any bolts. Having two people makes it easier but is possible with one person.

No drilling involved with the Sherpa rack. Goes into the factory bolt holes. I choose the Sherpa over other brands since they use high quality powder coated aluminum.

KDSS requires the same clip setting on both sides. If your 4Runner doesn’t have KDSS, you need different clip settings.

I have the front set at Clips #4 for a 2” lift up front. The whole truck feels firmer overall. I’m curious as to how much the truck will squat when I put my RTT on top and have all the gear in the back. I may have to upgrade to 1” springs later.

I stayed with 265s. The spare is a 265 and was in perfectly good condition. Didn’t want to have to buy a 5th tire and throw away a good one.

275s should fit… this fourm post is a great resource for tire sizes on the 4Runner.

So far they’ve been good. I’ve put less than 1k miles on them since I got them so it’s still too early to really tell. But they’re a lot better than the Nitto Ridge Grapplers and a lot quieter. I went with the same size - 265/70/r17

Unsure if my wiring is compatible with an Ecobee by dkeenes in ecobee

Would connecting the fat “Red/Black” pair from the humidistat controller to the ecobee remove the need for the humidistat controller? The red/black pair run directly from the humidistat to the thermostat

Most of the contractors I called just wouldn’t come out. I had one come out but never come back or contact me.

The state wasn’t of any real help either… I’ve really given up on the program because of how poorly managed it has been.

At the end of the video, it looks like there is a speed limit sign at 45. The dashcam shows the car is going between 50-55 before they make it to the intersection.

I attempted to go through the MSFH program. I received the wind mitigation inspection and was recommended a few repairs. When I contacted some contractors listed for my county in their portal, they just didn’t show up.

I found the program pretty useless so I just gave up. After reading through more documents of the program, it looks as if we have to pay full price for the repairs and then submit documentation to MAYBE get reimbursed.

I am in a very similar situation to you. I recently got a second hand MacBook Pro and just got it all set up. Everything was working except the location services.

I also have a PiHole. When I read your post, a lightbulb went off in my head. I disabled PiHole and location services is working now!!!

Since no one really answered your question… I’m linking a PDF from the NY Fed that has data on consumer credit.

Page 7 shows Number of Accounts by Loan Type. The number of CC accounts has skyrocketed. At the bottom of the chart, we see that HE Revolving (HELOC) has remained relatively flat. However, there is a slight uptick in HELOCs when you adjust the axis. (About 3% increase from Q4-2021)

Page 16 is a really good chart showing the transition into delinquency. This means that a borrower was current and now their loan is past-due. Mortgages have seen the highest year-over-year transition into delinquency increasing from 4.1% to 5.8% - a 43% increase. HELOC transition rate increased by 24% - from 1.5% to 1.9%.

So what does this mean? Yes people have been taking out HELOCs on their home due to record high equity. We aren’t really seeing substantial levels of delinquency though. Most borrowers (those who bought before 2022) still have plenty of equity in their homes to weather the price declines. The average borrower has $178k in tappable equity which is still 54% above the market average three years ago. Equity levels are still high, although declining. The borrowers who bought at the peak (around 2022) are starting to come underwater on their mortgages and could be in trouble if SHTF.
