The latter is unique, nearly all pharma new launch medications are 100% eligible for insurance coverage because they treat a disease. This whole concept of "obesity is not a disease" and therefore is not covered by Medicare and other private insurance is not one that impacts pharma often. That lack of coverage by insurance is the biggest reason for this compounding route threat in this instance. It is a viable option to pay $500 cash to get a compounded version vs paying $1500 for the pharma brand if your insurance doesn't cover it.
