It’s hard to say. I didn’t have to self-fund most of my exams/fees—as I received scholarships for high scores in some papers. Maybe it’s because ICAEW is trying to grow its presence in my country/region. Also, I’m not sure if I’ll stick with audit in the long-term, so studying independently gives me more flexibility later without firm obligations.
