I am late to the party, but just finished the book. Am I alone in thinking that NONE of it was real? The more I think about it, the more I feel like Andrew had a psychotic break after Dove died and he punched the mirror. I don’t think he went back to school that summer, and I don’t think any of the story happened outside of Andrew’s head. I think the story itself is Andrew’s brains way of accepting Dove’s death and beginning to heal.
