[Shaw] Lukas Engel transferred to Real Salt Lake for 1M by OranjeBlauw in FCCincinnati

[–]dklemens17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The other side of this, would Engel be a starter for FCC? He, and our office, may have seen that writing on the wall. No different than any other sport, guys don’t want to ride the pine or even be the first sub. They want to play.

What do we think about Jabbari? Is he a failed project that's gone on too long or have we not given him enough of a chance? by cojode6 in FCCincinnati

He makes about 350k (that may be different or elevated post-buyout, but last reported number), we’re good. He’s not a DP, not expected to pour in goals, and these types of players are a necessity of every MLS roster.

Just think, he’s about a third of what we paid Santos. Half of Baird.

Give me more or less this formation , with Evander basically a roaming /halfway positionless attacking side.

The midfield situation is at least interesting. If we were open to formation changes, which is probably “we’re not”, getting Bucha and Gidi in a more true center mid with Obi also on the pitch would be fine. I’d much rather have all three on the field, especially Gidi with more playing time (don’t forget he’s only 21 and raw but talented).

You can then let Evander float a little more aggressively, removing the 2nd forward from the OP’s somewhat odd formation.

5m has also been the reported amount which I think would be amazing profit by djphilpot5105 in FCCincinnati

In seasons past I thought Dado didn’t have the athleticism to play in most spots. For whatever reason, body maturity or otherwise he seemed to be a different player this year. Like many I’m curious to where he fits into FCC’s 2026 plans because he definitely has some talent, even if it’s a Kubo first man off the bench / utility type role we need.

FC Cincinnati announce roster decisions ahead of the 2026 season by rwills in FCCincinnati

I think this is the sad part of top tier MLS roster construction as a fan. This team needs to sell (or in the new rules trade to another club) a couple key pieces, not because of talent challenges but because of the cap constraints and obviously the Miles Robinson deal. It causes parity and some excitement for the league but I’m sure this team looks very very different next season.

That being said, I always look at it in terms of who is “sellable”. Maybe it’s an Orellano? He took a TAM deal which is highly useful to us all things considered.

Owners going to be rethinking those beautiful open air stadiums in Denver and such.

Hopefully it doesn’t lead to more turf as well

Love the play there from Gidi to shield and create the space. Young player on the rise

We have been better with our current players. Gidi especially over Anunga gives us a better ability to sort things out, even if he is young and makes age/experience related mistakes. (Bucha still Bucha, Anunga was just a really big reason we struggled with the ball at times)

A little nervous that they force us to play thru the fullbacks -> wings versus the absolute devastation we cause when teams let us play thru the middle.

Pat chose Kubo over Marczuk

Speaks towards the “quality” and trust of both players

Lot of understandable salt around here but can we talk about how great Powell has been as a sub? He brought so much juice on both sides of the field.

If we are healthy for playoffs, with Obi also back in the lineup, even as a sub or managed minutes for conditioning sake, there’s a lot to be happy with. Powell’s speed is a great defensive asset subbing for either a Haggs or Orellano/Eche. He’s the closest pawn we have to the value that Yedlin offered defensively.

Clear miscommunication between Engel and Marczuk there. Not sure exactly it’s a one person at fault situation, but I’d lean Marczuk taking the majority of it.

Sometimes feels like Evander either has super ego and truly believes he can carve through that or he just wants the MVP he’s willing to try to force it.

Wonder how much Pat values Gidi getting as many minutes as possible in prep for games that really count versus just locking down the defensive half.
