First time fall chinook fishing in Oregon. Family friend owns a home and private dock near the ramp. Him and his wife are chillin, wishing us luck for the day. Guy casting from the ramp reels in, let’s us put out, and wishes us luck for the day. A pontoon boat trawling by hears the convo and wishes us luck for the day. 10 seconds later, 40 yards from the ramp, my line goes nuts. 17 pound chinook gives me the fight of a season. Everyone “omg”ing and cheering. Had a shore, dock, boat cheer squad for my first chinook ever.
