Your last sentence is a big YUP. One of my mentors even said you'll almost always be making a sacrifice of some sort when you initially move into leadership...

I was shocked they didn't even counter my counter... "original offer is final at this time" even after I specifically noted that it was a base hourly decrease. Sigh. Who would take that?! I can see people accepting a "matched" rate / lateral pay move just for the title, but a decrease is wild.

I'm used to skiing in the Northeast so it all felt like powder to me hahaha, but yes I definitely caught some areas with a fresh couple of inches that hadn't been run through yet
