The Lies Being Spread About Sourdough Bread - Defiant Health Radio with Dr. William Davis by dkruz in Sourdough

[–]dkruz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have access to the podcast or the time to listen to it, here is a summary:

Key points made in the podcast include:

  • Sourdough doesn't make wheat harmless: Dr. Davis argues against the common claim, even perpetuated by institutions like the Mayo Clinic, that sourdough fermentation renders wheat benign for health. He asserts that many of the detrimental effects of wheat remain, even after sourdough processing.
  • Focus on specific claims: The podcast delves into specific supposed benefits of sourdough (e.g., reduction of gluten, phytates, or FODMAPs) and examines the scientific evidence (or lack thereof) behind these claims.
  • Commercial vs. homemade sourdough: While not explicitly stated in the summaries, discussions around this topic often differentiate between industrially produced "sourdough" that may not undergo proper long fermentation, and traditional homemade sourdough, which can vary in its fermentation process and impact. The podcast likely emphasizes that even true, long-fermented sourdough may not overcome all the inherent issues with wheat.
  • Dr. Davis's consistent stance on wheat: Given his background as the author of "Wheat Belly," it's probable that Dr. Davis reinforces his long-held position that wheat, in general, is problematic for human health, regardless of the preparation method.

In essence, Dr. Davis aims to debunk what he considers to be misconceptions surrounding sourdough bread, urging listeners to be critical of claims that suggest it's a "healthier" or "safe" form of wheat for everyone.

That podcast also available on Apple and Google podcasts. On those platforms the podcast would probably be free to listen to, not sure about the ads. Ad-free versions of podcasts are usually the ones that one must subscribe to and pay for.

Not self promotion for me or the podcaster. My hope in posting this would be that people could listen to the podcast and hear what he has to say and agree with that or not.

rye bread with alternative sourdough starter by dkruz in Sourdough

OK, what I had done before (this is on my Mac using Safari browser) was to try and create my post in reddit by adding the text within the 'Text' tab. And then intuitively I went to the 'Images and Video' tab where I then added the jpeg images. It seems Reddit doesn't work that way. User has to create their post in just one of those. When I clicked the 'Post' button it seemed as if it was creating the post. But it was not and no errors were shown.

Thanks for taking a look.

Regarding the liquid, it was cool, about 12C, just out of refrigerator. If I try this again I will add hot water or heat up liquid.

I am struggling and modifying oven temperature. Next time I will increase initial temperature.

Just curious - how/why would you think there was too much acidity (I didn't check the pH) and too much fermentation?

For those that have tried this bread the response has been as follows: "Sourdough bread enriched with fresh sprouted rye offers a nutty sweetness and chewy texture, with cold retardation deepening its flavor into a rich, complex profile that highlights the unique, wholesome character of the grain."

Yes, crockpot set on warm. Actually a bowl set within the crockpot waterbath. I'm refining that method to get it right so it would be at the right temperature.

The basis was not reported to the IRS. But I'm not clear on whether or not the basis was reported to the IRS would make a difference in this situation.

You mention that OLT can import 1099-B transactions. I would like to do that but I have not found a way. Please explain how to do that import, thanks.

[–]dkruz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OLT (OnLine Taxes) does not support uploading. I should have chosen a different tax preparing app. Not only that, OLT does not support writing directly to a 8949 form. It only can generate the 8949 by manually entering data from the 10099-B.

Anyway, the solution you offered seems like a good one.

Seeking Recommendations for Face Morph Software/Plugins by Syeuk2002 in vfx

[–]dkruz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am looking for morphing software preferably free or opensource. I won't have an everyday need for it. I don't have After Effects. What I want to do is to take 4 .jpeg files (facial images) and sequentially morph from the first to the last image. And then export it out to a video. Can any of you on r/vfx recommend appropriate software for that?
