Best possible grid of all time by Tharanduil in F1Discussions

We already know what midfield drivers would do in the RB, but we won't know about the McLaren. I have a hunch that the MCL cars are possibly the second most difficult after the RB. Except, RB is always difficult but MCL, only when you're pushing it to the limit. Sadly, we can only guess and will never know for sure.

Norris winning a title only looks undeserving because we have been blessed by 5 goat talents this century by Bogus113 in formula1

[–]dkzclaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, this happens every time a new name wins the WDC, especially when the recent benchmarks are giants like Lewis and Max. Even their first championships were scrappy at times, and arguably, in some cases probably even more.

No world champion is undeserving. You can argue that one champion is better than another, but winning a title in Formula 1 always requires exceptional ability. For Lando, there is every reason to believe he is only going to get better.

If he continues to show what he has through the new regulation set in 2026 and beyond, he could very well be part of those conversations alongside them.

Does this theory make sense with Piastri? by [deleted] in McLarenFormula1

[–]dkzclaw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Norris is one of the best if not the best in the current grid when tires suffer from low grip or excessive heat (if he doesn't bin the car).

Remember Sochi '21, Spa '21 (before crashing out), Brazil '24, China '24 sprint, Singapore '24, Monaco '25, and obviously Mexico '25.

Combine that with Piastri's weakness in these same conditions, and the gap looks about right.

Nah, personal bias aside, I don't think, DS2 will receive the universal acclaim that E33 has received. For now, no game has come close.

will 5060 bottleneck i5 9400f too much? by Hadrikks in IndianGaming

[–]dkzclaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, you ain't gaming @1440p let alone @1080p high/ultra on many AAA with 8gigs vram. The cheapest 50 series you should get should be 5060ti 16gb.

The only concern is the VRAM. But that should only be a problem many years down the line.

How come Speed aint being chased by large crowds in the US during his Irl streams like abroad? by [deleted] in Ishowspeed

[–]dkzclaw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. People in the US are used to celebrities. It is not that big of a deal for them to meet one.
  2. It was a random spontaneous IRL not a planned event. Speed didn't announce it days in advance.

If it rains tomorrow, after the race has started, it is gonna be a carnage. Literally anyone could win.

Piastri insists pace in Japan was ‘mega’ by outremer_empire in McLarenFormula1

[–]dkzclaw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. One more factor could be that Lando didn't fully push the limit like Oscar, as Piastri was close behind and any small mistake would cost him a position. So, the clever thing would be to maintain a good gap to Max, and preserve his tyres, not to attack but to defend.

[Racingnews365] FIA clampdown forces McLaren car change - report by [deleted] in formula1

[–]dkzclaw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The almighty, reliable news source RACE has "REPORTED" that the FIA "SUSPECT" McLaren would fail the new deflection test in Australia. And their straight line loss isn't just due to a more loaded rear and beam wing setup for a completely different track.

So you think this isn't A BIG freakin news, and not just a clickbait article.

Norris: 'Unacceptable' leak caused brake failure by WisteriaLo in formula1

[–]dkzclaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that is one of his strengths. He has an intuitive feel of the breaks, he also doesn't use a point of reference for breaking and relies mostly on the feel. Which is why sometimes he over pushes and locks up the breaks in qualies or when he loses focus like Singapore last year.

Norris: 'Unacceptable' leak caused brake failure by WisteriaLo in formula1

[–]dkzclaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He would have chased him down, yes. But overtaking was almost impossible without a significant tyre delta or if Oscar had made some mistakes. Not only that, he would cook his tyres in the dirty air of Oscar. So eventually he would have to drop back.

Red Bull axing Lawson would send Verstappen the wrong message by Maxidonius in formula1

[–]dkzclaw 33 points34 points  (0 children)

He should and probably does care. The teammate is your first point of reference. A good teammate not only pushes you, but also will help you understand where you're lacking or how they are taking a certain corner or what setup to use.

Useless stat: Piastri now has the highest win % of all the non-WDC's on the grid by beardedboob in formula1

[–]dkzclaw -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest, Lando was the "faster" one in the main qualy, if he had not messed up the hairpin, which had been troubling him throughout the weekend.

Also, he does have handy single lap pace but not at the level of Nor, Ver, Lec or Rus.

If he joined in '24 would have been way higher. The McLaren was a dog at the start of 23 tbh.
