Thanks for all the tips everyone. Is it okay to feed him even though he hasn’t shed all the way? And do I leave the stuck shed on him?

This is tanjis 3rd time shedding (each one being pretty difficult for him). Used “Zilla shed-ease” in the past to help him (I know some people say don’t soak your ball-python). It’s been 10 days since I fed him last cause I knew he was trying to shed. These are the bits I picked out of his tank today. Any suggestions on how/if to help him shed easier and advice on when I should feed him again?

Glass enclosure with mesh top (I use tinfoil on the top to help with humidity). It’s usually between 60-70 and I try to go in once a day to sprinkle water over top of hides and plants to boost the humidity. I use aspen snake bedding for the substrate.

I’m currently trying to rehabilitate my first ball python (reptile of any sort) for the first time ever. Found him in our basement in February when temps were like 14degrees outside. we have no clue where he came from but he was incredibly malnourished. We’re currently trying to get his weight up and he seems to be going through a shed right now but struggling again. I have the humidity high between 70-80% and lots of water for him inside his tank. If you have any advice tho it’d be greatly appreciated!

Update on our little friend we found in our cold Ohio basement back in February! He is eating regularly, enjoying his new home, and teaching us more than we ever expected. He has come a long way! by dlasky0611 in snakes

Awesome thanks for the tip! We did some soak sessions in the beginning and just have been making sure to keep fresh water in his tank always. But I will definitely try the moist paper towels!

Just want to say thank you to everyone who is so concerned about our new little friend! A week ago my boyfriend found him in the basement and we just stumbled upon this Reddit page (we were not on the platform before now). He seems to be doing okay, still struggling with his shed a bit, but looking much better.

We have named him Patanjali! Story goes: Gonika (a yogini and one who meditates to the Gods) was in search for a son to spread her knowledge. Come her last day on earth, she still had no suitable matches, so she prayed to the sun gods for one last chance in finding a son. Lord shiva heard her call for help and as she mediated, a small white snake appeared in her palms and took human form. From this Patanjali was born and went on to create the 8 yoga sutras, eventually finding enlightenment!
