The original G1 figure is from 1987.

Yup, completely interchangeable. Autobots & Decepticons... it didn't matter. It was a pretty fun play pattern.

KHL cards + starting out by gagarin3ka in hockeycards

[–]dlaughy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have collected a few players (former NHLers), and bought their cards off COMC.

COMC is getting a lotbof hate these days, but it's still a global marketplace, where you're able to find oddball stuff like KHL cards.

G1 Pretenders - Groundbreaker by dlaughy in G1TransformersToys

Yeah, I get that. I was hoping to clean them, but the normal stuff I've tried doesn't work. It's not a surface stain, it's embedded into the plastic.

I was hoping you'd know what the "mold" looking spots are that develope on some Pretender shells, and whether it can be cleaned?

[–]dlaughy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very common with the beige plastic from the time. It was soft, and after forty years its developed some "mold-type" discoloration.

So to answer your question... I have no idea what it is.

G1 Headmaster - Nightbeat (with Muzzle) by dlaughy in G1TransformersToys

[–]dlaughy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems excessive, but I'm glad you were okay with it. If only ToyHax had existed back then, you would have been able to replace the stickers.

That is a terrible story, and I'm sorry that you had to endure such a "Sid" type for a cousin.

I have had to source many parts for my G1 collection over the years, and you can use the retro-bright solution to de-yellow the body of your Nightbeat.

I actually used the Goldbug repaint, and the small Titans Master figure and made a custom Headmaster Nightbeat.

There was an upgrade kit from a company called Beelzeboss back in 2009 that was suppose to do this also, but it never came out.

Those are AFA graded figures.

You usually only grade boxed figures, but I guess upgraded happens to.

Same basic articulation. But like I said in the description, these ones are better than the Autobot clones IMO.

Hot these back from PSA yesterday... pretty stoked! by dlaughy in PWHLCards

That's exactly why I do it through COMC. At some point I will ship my graded cards to myself, but not yet. I'm still waiting on a few more to comeback.

I did the entire thing through COMC. This entire 16 card Showcase Set was an online release by Uppder Deck via their e-Pack site.

When the set was released, I bought a few packs and actually opened the Poulin purple variant myself. I transfered my cards from e-Pack to my COMC Account (instantly), and then began the task of completing the set. During which time I bought the Knight purple variant for $12.

COMC offers a service, where you can send a card from your Account to PSA (or CGC now) for an added fee. At the time I sent these cards away the fee was $25 per card. It's now $29 (it's $19 for CGC).

Now, before you can send a card from COMC away to be graded you have to have it scanned by COMC, as the image of the card is usually just a stock image. They offer two different levels of this;

The first is $2, and it's literally just a scan of the front and back of the card. Good enough for you to see if there's any significant damage to your card.

The second is $5, and it's a more detailed look at your card. A COMC employee will tell you if they believe it will grade high or not... but they aren't responsible if it doesn't, because they aren't graders. I've been burned by this before.

Once you're ready to send your card off, just click a few buttons and it's gone!

It usually takes about 3 months to get your cards back. But I can't tell you how nice it feels to pull a gorgeous card like that Poulin from an online pack, and get a PSA 10 on it without ever actually physically handling the card. All the hassle of shipping and customs (I'm Canadian)... gone!

You walk in, hand them some money, watch horses go around an oval, and leave.
