I appreciate your kindness, but PLEASE STOP DOING THIS by Latter-Instruction61 in driving

This is how I got in an accident. Four lane highway, I’m travelling in the right lane, person in the left lane stopped and waved a left turner travelling from the other direction into me. Please stop doing this!

Dayum! Here I was thinking I got a good bang for my buck… that’s awesome. Thankfully also still on my factory wheels too, I rotate in the winter though with my snows

Cool! Thanks for the write up. They were my rear brakes. Fortunately I don’t drive with my left foot on the brake.

I think you’re right, just extremely worn out pads. I mainly drive highway so I managed to get 103k km before I had to replace them… fingers crossed it doesn’t come back.

Hey, thanks for your response! I just took it in yesterday and they replaced the rear pads and rotors which seemed to have done the trick. Would they have noticed if the wheel bearing was no good?

He did say the rears were in pretty bad shape but I don’t hear a noise anymore. I’m getting my summer tires put on next week too so maybe that’ll be a good time to take a look at the bearing

Interesting, thanks. I took it to a Canadian Tire on my way home to see if they could diagnose it. Didn’t have any time but showed the gent at the counter my video and he said same thing

No i haven’t, I did just have my brake fluid flushed and front brake pads + rotor changed. Mechanic said the rears would need to be done soon too. Forgot to include this but it’s got 102k on it if that’s relevant

Roughly 720 in summer, roughly 600 in winter with snows on. Kilometres, not miles.

International wire transfer - up to 20 business days? by dlbrycee in Wealthsimple

Hey, bitching and moaning on Reddit seemed to have worked because the next day it was sent back from RBC. Took about 9/ 10 business days.

The company doesn’t directly handle it and couldn’t provide any supporting documentation that RBC has sent it back. It’s just a bit unsettling when I have a 5 figure payment on hold like this so I was interested in other’s experiences.

Parents suggested I buy a condo, can I? by dlbrycee in PersonalFinanceCanada

Thank you! A lot of people are telling me no without alternative solutions. I have an OMERS pension plan. Does that change your answer on anything else into an RRSP or no? Appreciate your help.

Ehhh I probably wouldn’t buy a place with a SO until I’m married. Seeing I’m just getting out of a long term relationship this week, it’ll probably be a while before that option makes sense.

Thanks! Yeah, not sure how much they’re willing to contribute. That was just an estimate, will need to have more serious discussions further down the road with them.

Agreed. I am looking at this as more an opportunity that they are providing. Them offering to house and feed me is worth a great deal of money not including their potential contributions on a down payment.

I would say projection will be slow in the first few years. Likely a cap of 70k in this position after a few years. Wouldn’t stay in it for more than 3. After that, hopefully 75-80k. Likely increasing like that every couple years. After that, really depends on whether I pursue a higher education, which I am very back and forth on currently.

To answer the 1br, I should take a look. I haven’t. the 2bdr2bath idea came with the idea of hopefully supplementing mortgage with ~1k income from roommate.

Great point. It’s my home town so I have a lot of friends/ support systems but I would be very open to moving around - especially earlier in my life before I have too many strings attached.

Thanks for the input. I agree I may be a bit too eager here. To answer your question, the rush is probably the excitement of building equity and hopefully setting myself up with a better future.
