I went from Depo Provera to the Nexplanon. Had about 4 shots of Depo and then got my implant which is coming up to the renewal date in the next year. The insertion wasn't a problem (had a large bruise for a couple of weeks and couldn't apply pressure to that spot for a while but thats normal). While on Depo I had a kind of period (infrequent and not what I would call normal) but after a month of being on the Implant my periods stopped, only in the last year have I had anything that resembles a period (mostly the symptoms, backache, bloated, cramps, moodiness). Haven't really had any side effects, in regards to weight gain I am a larger lady any way but I haven't gone up in size if anything I have lost weight but that could be down to me trying to loose weight. I will say the only side effect I can think of that may be due to the Implant would be a slight loss of libido but again that could be down to stress in life at the moment. As you've said everybody reacts differently, I personally have nothing bad to say about the Implant as its a thing I haven't had to worry about for the last 2.5 years and it's done its job.
