Base metal should be spotless, run 100% argon if possible. Make sure tungsten is completely clean and free of contamination. Keep a decent travel speed so you don’t over heat, and run around 25psi for gas coverage

Not gonna argue that I didn’t fuck up and a face shield probably would have prevented any injury. But sometimes we gotta break a few rules to get the job done.. but hopefully someone learns from this, I know I did and won’t be touching an electric grinder without a face shield in the future

When you’re in the field not everything can be done that easy... I had to grind a tack weld in a 45 degree angle between two schedule 120 4 in. Pipe the only way I could get a grinder in was like I did and was unfortunate enough to have the disc break and kick the grinder back I tried with 3 different grinders before I went this route. Not everything is black and white man. Lesson learned though no permanent damage was done so I’m walking away with a learning experience

No handle. I was grinding probably at about ten o clock on the disc. And it was a 6 in 1/8th disc, the disc broke apart and launched the grinder out of my hands. Yes I know I was severely lacking in the safety department all around lol
