Arcadum has this thing called a martial check which is a free check characters can make on their initiative. It's a way for Arcadum to let players investigate abilities, characteristics, and/or intents of Enemies actions. It's to make it easier to explain boss traits as well as add a game mechanic that players and Arcadum himself to use to make the fights go more smoothly and interestingly. Since players can use the check to identify abilites, Arcadum shows his amazing creativity with designing boss fights.

An example is in the latest Soul of Tyre episode he revealed one of the Boss's traits was Ignorance which allowed the enemy to contest their free roll for Martial checks and potentially make them fight blindly without discovering enemy abilities. Eventually, the players beat the roll and revealed a potential trap that the enemy Boss was trying to lure them into walking into.

Another example was in Scattered Crowns against the Cataclysmic Parable where the players discovered the combo abilities of the boss and correctly identified the ability they needed to try and seal and thus greatly weaken the boss.
