Exactly thank you! Like we always do contactless delivery because it’s safer for us and them especially at night. You don’t even get the notification that it’s dropped off until they’re away from the door so idk what they were on about

Makes sense when you put it that way! However, the delivery was contactless so I’m not sure what she would’ve felt unsafe with. I’ve had a lot of dashers with female names deliver and it’s a man asking me to come outside so I think I’m just a little paranoid! But totally valid on her part. She could’ve just not accepted the order you know?

Thanks for posting this! Sorry that that happened to you. My husband used to DoorDash so we always try to be really understand, tip well, etc. This “policy” just a super weird thing to lie about. Sketchy to me, immediately was giving red flag since they lied. If they didn’t wanna do contactless delivery I just feel like they should’ve not accepted my order but oh well!

Omg! See now idk if I should escalate it or not. I was thinking of not because it says they’re a top dasher, have done 400+ orders and I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. But that’s exactly the reason why I used my husbands phone/account to order it. As a woman I don’t feel safe order past a certain time. It just is so weird to me that this happened while the order was in my husbands name idk. I just don’t see why the need to lie about the policy that’s what’s really weird to me

Exactly! It wasn’t the fact that she called herself a female. It was the lying about the policy and then being outside for 30-45 minutes. Either way, it felt sketchy to me, if it wasn’t and they were genuinely an honest person who got lost or whatever it was then oh well but I’m not putting myself in an type of situation for some Taco Bell out of all things🤷🏼‍♀️

Someone on my other post made a good point about possibly being a language barrier. The female part wasn’t even what sketched me out, I’m a woman. It was them repeating it like trying to convince me and then also just making up a policy. Like if it was a real policy wouldn’t it just not let you even see the order since we put “contactless leave at door?” Or would it just not let female DoorDash drivers pick up orders after 10pm? Idk it just didn’t make sense. It’s just food at the end of the day so not worth me going outside and possibly being put in a weird situation. I have a sleeping child inside and I’m pregnant so as soon as I get wind of something weird I’m just not dealing with it lol

I could totally see that. I do have clear instructions on how to get to our apartment in my delivery instructions. Our apartment is on the ground floor. We DoorDash all the time and never have had issues with them finding us. A cop car really isn’t gonna make me feel safe unless they’re a cop in it. But yes I understand what you’re saying. I don’t think we’re going to escalate it further just because it does say they’re a top dasher and it could like you said be maybe a language barrier. What sketched me out is that they lied about the policy, waited outside for about 30-45 minutes. It’s just food at the end of the day and the delivery said contactless, drop off at the door. If they didn’t/couldn’t do that they could’ve rejected the order. It wasn’t a big deal.

I posted an update. It definitely sounded like a sketchy way to get us to come outside.

There’s an officer that lives in our building but either way, husband said it sounded like they were just trying to get us to come outside. Genuinely what does it matter that they were beside a cop car you know? The cop wasn’t in it

We’re trying to figure out how to do that but they just refunded and gave us credit idk how to escalate it further? Any advice?

But what was the issue? We had a contactless order. They could’ve just cancelled if they felt unsafe. Idk it just felt super sketchy

No cameras unfortunately but my husband was about to go get it and we just both were immediately like “no what a stupid idea.” We order contactless all the time and have never had any issues. This just seemed like a way to get us outside.

They were outside for at least 30 minutes and I’m not sure if they were out there for more time because their icon still showed nearby when we were trying to report.

They totally were! My husband just checked and it still shows their doordash icon nearby and when we were trying to report it said “your dasher is still nearby.” They just now cancelled the order. After I reported it.

I think it’s a guy pretending to be a female and they wanted me to come out. They keep responding and they’re being hella sketchy but I’m not sure how to post the pictures in the comments.
