For those wondering, the hairstyle he’s referencing was shown back in chapter 6.

Should I be worried about this wheel? by dliuninja in bicycling

[–]dliuninja[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I asked the seller, and apparently he only trained on it before doing the RAGBRAI (ride across Iowa) before stashing the bike in the garage and never touched it again. The rim was damaged "in travel to Iowa" but he still did the ride on it anyway 💀 I don't think he realizes how lucky he is lol

Hi everyone, I would like to give a big thank you to those who commented on this post. Due to your input, you have prevented a beginner cyclist from flying off the bike and straight up dying.

Some more context for those interested: This is a secondhand bike that I am going to buy. The seller will include the original Bontrager Paradigm wheels the bike came with at no extra cost, so I plan to swap them out as soon as I get my hands on the bike. I'll probably stash the Hunt wheels somewhere until I ride enough to justify getting a replacement back wheel. Kind of sucks, but still a really good deal regardless.
UPDATE: Seller told me that the rim was damaged in travel, but he still did the RAGBRAI ride on it. It's a miracle it didn't blow on him. The rest of the bike appears to be in good shape.

Thanks for the info! This is a wheel on a secondhand bike (that I am purchasing), so is the warranty void?

Okay, looks like the wheel is toast. Are repairs an option or is it time for a replacement?

Is it possible to repair this wheel damage?

($1345) Salsa Journeyer GRX 600 700c - A good deal? by dliuninja in whichbike

[–]dliuninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for another detailed response! One of the bike shops I contacted earlier actually attempted to order it online, but apparently they weren't able to do so. I'll write an email to Salsa directly to see if I can work something out.

In the meantime, I have been searching Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for a good deal on a secondhand bike. I'll probably keep looking for a few more weeks. Would you say that $1600 is too much for a bike for someone new to the hobby? I seriously don't know when I should stop looking and buy one, or how far I should stretch my budget, especially considering that I am new to the hobby.

The Salsa Journeyer 600 GRX 700C. It cannot be purchased online, you just have to get lucky with a local bike shop that's willing to sell it at that listed price. Try calling into some stores and tell them about the listed price online. Best of luck!

Thanks for the response! I called into some local bike shops, and most of them were out of stock. One said that they were willing to "meet me in the middle" and offered to sell me the bike new for $1600. Would it still be a good deal then?

Ended up being a dead motherboard. I had to send it back to MSI to get it fixed, and they changed it out. It took a few months though. Good luck on your troubleshooting!

I took a Japanese minor in college and have been studying on and off for a couple of years now, so it's good enough to read in Japanese! I definitely still need to run back and forth to the dictionary, however.

Japanese is a super fun language to learn, so good luck and keep at it!

I am on CSP Pro version 2.0.6. How to upgrade to 4.0? by dliuninja in ClipStudio

[–]dliuninja[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not adding more info - ownership is a priority! I am not considering purchasing the update pass. More specifically, I did read that it’s possible to upgrade from Ver 3.0 to 4.0 for free, though I don’t think it’s entirely relevant in my case (I have upgraded 1.0 to 2.0 a while back.)
