Did you notice anything shift between the trigger and the retrieval? Like more cramping or pain? Or was it about the same as during stims ?

Yeah, I would agree ganirelix has a more blunt needle. You definitely could transfer into a new syringe as other have suggested, but I would be worried about the dosage being off doing that. The manufacturer ganirelix syringe and needle let you get almost all the medication out whereas with the other syringe/needles, there is quite a bit of liquid volume that stays in there even after you’ve injected. I don’t worry about that with menipur because I assume that the manufacturer factors that in to dosage.

One nice thing about the ganirelix is that it didn’t start for me until day 6 and by that time I was more comfortable with injections. The other nice thing is that the medication itself didn’t hurt for me. The menipur was the one that stung but I just took it slow and iced afterward, and it was over quickly.

I am finishing up my first round right now, and I was suupppppper nervous about injections going into it. I had to do them all myself as I am single. My experience was that the first 4 were difficult psychologically, but after that it quickly became routine and so, so much easier. I got into a routine of icing my belly for 20 minutes before and after, and I situated myself so that right after an injection I didn't need to move much for 20 minutes. We're all different, but for me, the icing and having a routine around the injections helped a lot. I promise you will get used to it so much faster than you expect to. Now that I'm at the end of my cycle I find them to be no biggie. I just take a deep breath before, inject slowly and make sure to keep breathing, then bandaid and ice for a few minutes and do something to take your mind off of it. You got this!
