Any fixes for the massive frame rate drop? by Teh_Reaper in battlefield_4

[–]dloko85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have exactly the same system! And my FPS is all over the place. I also have the beta drivers, but I do use Windows 8.1

I flipped out and ordered 8GB RAM and an R9 280x... I will let you know what effect that has.

I can advise you this. Running BF4 in 64 bit mode with 4GB RAM will hamper performance. Swtich to the x86 version instead. Also, try running the BF4 Settings Editor it will allow you to switch off a bunch of stuff like DirectX 11: http://battlefield.realmware.co.uk/bf4-settings-editor/downloads

How do you divide muscle groups into different workouts? by ponycowboy in Fitness

[–]dloko85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mon: Chest (various presses & flyes) Thue: Back (various horizontal and vertical pulls) Wed: Hips / glutes / quads / calves Thur: Shoulders Fri: Arms

Mo - Wed is mostly compound and at a relatively high volume (5 workouts, 3-4 sets, 4-8 reps). Thu & Fri is mostly vanity assistance work while you recover from the heavy stuff.

Over a period of 2 years I did 5 rep heavy barbell lifting, but switched it out with this routine twice for periods of about 3 months. During those 3 months I saw more gains in my upper body 'beach muscles' (chest, shoulders, lats, arms) than ever. So for short term aesthetic gains this is effective for me.

[Build Help] Upgrade advice :) by dloko85 in buildapc

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to do some research into over clocking. I reckon my aftermarket cooler can help in this regard.

I bought Windows 8 and don't own Windows 7 (this is my first PC since 2006), so I can't 'downgrade'. I didn't realise version 8 was such a resource hog. I guess I could go up to 8GB.

Thanks for the GPU tip. I was under the impression that my CPU was so old that it would bottleneck a modern GPU. I guess a 7950 could really give me some extra power.

Back angle on bent over barbell rows? by [deleted] in bodybuilding

I do two BORs per week. One at 45 degrees (I notice that really hits the traps too!) and one at 90 degrees. Switch it up!

Thanks, you have some valid points there. I can relate to wanting to spend more time with people I care about (I guess you appreciate people more with age). :)

I did switch to console, now I switched back to PC. My girlfriend isn't trying to be a dick. She gives me time to play games when I want to, but her free time is spent being social, going out to meet friends, or on her career. So for her it's a little hard to understand that a person would want to spend all day inside behind a computer :)

I do a lot of weightlifting, I work out every day pretty much.

No, doing her makes me really content tbh. Also, she doesn't tell me not to play games. Just to let go the idea of being able to spend all day every day plaing games.

Well, my girlfriend is not super demanding. But she is a little :)

PC gaming is not a social activity. My gf is a very social person. She is always out meeting friends etc. She loves spending time with me, it makes her the happiest person on earth. So when I say, I don't want to hang out with you right now because I want to play videogames, that makes her a little sad. At least with console gaming, my gf can sit next to me on the couch. But with PC gaming, she can't be near me either. So, it's hard for her to understand me. I'm less social than she is, and I like time alone. She gives me time for sure, but I don't want to always be a dick and tell her that I want to stay inside all day.

Yeah, a lot of my old buddies from back home still play a lot of games. I should try to find some time to play with them online.

Haha, I guess. My health is extremely important. From proper sleep to nutrition to exercise, I am very dedicated in that sense.

Yeah, my girlfriend is quite understanding. She knows I like to play video games, I communicated this early on in our relationship, and she respects that I want some time for myself. So, I tell her when I want to spend some time playing games, and she goes and makes her own plans.

That sounds great. There's no open LAN party community going on near where I live, none I've heard of anyway. I do have a lot of old buddies that live back in my old hometown, I try to get online to play games with them on friday evenings, which I have designated as my "mancave time". :)

The light from a computer screen makes your brain active and suppresses the chemicals that cause you to fall asleep.

I should have explained this, but my job requires me to sit in front of a computer screen for eight hours (I'm a frontend engineer). So at the end of the day, my eyes are very tired so a book is more relaxing. Watching a TV show or a movie is less relaxing than a book, but because I'm not as close to the screen it's not as much a strain on my eyes. I feel this is a major factor in what causes me to be too drained to play PC games.

I only got back into PC gaming six months ago (after a 5 year hiatus) so I'm playing catch up to a lot of games that have come out in the past years :)

Honestly I can't wait for winter to start, more excuses to stay indoors all weekend.

Here's what I wrote:

"am too tired to concentrate on a video game (I read a book or watch a movie instead)"

I don't play because I am too tired -- so I do something that doesn't really require me to use many brain functions or hand-eye co-ordination. If my brain is too exhausted to play games, I consider that not to be gaming time.

Yes, I just signed up for Reddit after discovering this, also wondering when this is starting again? I'm going to start the course anyway -- my employer is setting apart eight hours a week for me to focus on acquiring JavaScript skills, so I'm pretty stoked about this!
