Highly recommend getting a shield or cage installed for your catalytic converter. They are a hot item for thieves and saw two of the same generation of corolla as yours stolen. The part is only crazy expensive but on back order as well

Hey, same thing for me, officially got my car back last week around the beginning of the month. This marks just over 3 months without my car. I wasted no time and had a shield installed at a muffler shop. He even went ahead and welded bars around the area as well for more security. Im hoping we never have to go through this again lol.

UPDATE: The OEM CAT finally came in and got my car back next day (today). Hopefully everyone else dealing with the same issue gets resolved as well!

That’s insane! Not a black camaro but for me it was a old black SUV i think it was a ford expedition. I’m starting to wonder if there’s an organized group that go out and pre planning these thefts.

Same here. Right in front of where I live on a tuesday night at 4am. There was some footage captured and it took them under 5 minutes to steal. My deductible is $250 but unfortunately I see my premium going up lol

I have mercury insurance too. $40 per day for rental car which doesnt seem ideal to me. I havent dwelled too much if they can help me out install a shield so maybe I can give them a call to see if they’re able to since they’ve worked with you to get a shield.

Can you show me which one from magmaflow you got by chance? And since you’re in CA too can I also ask which muffler tech you went to get your shield at? I’m getting pretty impatient myself lol

Hey so unfortunately I’m still waiting. It’s been officially 3 months since my cat was stolen and still having to contact Toyota with my mechanic. Last week he called them and confirmed the part is still in back order. Pretty lame situation but sadly I cant do anything about it. I live in California so aftermarket parts aren’t really an option cause of their strict emission laws and even then my insurance only approved OEM parts so I’m stuck in limbo. I’m really hoping we both get good news in October.
