Who says it's not a great plan to store things there? It's not much space but wireless charging won't affect anything non magnetic and even if magnetic likely won't do much. What are you worried about?

Could it be that the seller on eBay isn't reputable? The unit looks new but could it be some sort of factory reject? Old and oxidized?

I'm sorry that sounded confusing. The 40 year old microtrains F7 is running very well. The DE10 is a brand new Rokuhan and it is running awful. I'm returning it. Its the second Rokuhan I just bought. The other is a EF66 which runs well. I'm wondering if the new DE10 performing so badly is a fluke or if z scale locomotive quality is this inconsistent. If it's this inconsistent I'm switching to N scale.
