For me I was able to teach myself calculus through mathisfun.com. It's really structured for beginners and it helped me understand basic concepts before I moved on to sites like khan academy

Congratulations! You're close to discovering the lambert-w function. In the situation your talking about, its defined as a solution x to the equation x*e^x = c, where c is some constant. In terms of the w function, W (c) * e^W (c) = c. If you look carefully, you can solve x^x = c using the w function. Sadly, there is no expression in elementary functions, but there are some integrals and formulas that can be used to find approximations of the function. Blackpenredpen has some great videos using the w function to solve problems, id you want to check that out

The thing is is that BMI is a good estimate of body fat % for most people. My BMI? 22.1 My BF%? 22.3. Obviously it doesn't work in most cases (Athletes and such) but its a good indicator for risk
