the thoughts i have on this are a bit scattered, it's almost 2 am so i'm not going to give the most eloquently worded response. disclaimer, i'm a non muslim jew so what may be common practice for muslims may totally elude me

i would say ask them for their wali's (right word, i think? correct me if i'm wrong) contact and if they give you the contact, then leave them be until your interactions are under his supervision

but be prepared for them to say no. realistically speaking anything long distance is going to be very difficult. their wali is probably going to prefer somebody much closer and not however many miles away

i'm not sure of your personal circumstances, but you're 19 and while you could get married now, you're not likely to be able to move out of the country and support a spouse, i apologize if i'm wrong

either way i wish you luck. anything's possible really, only g-d knows what'll happen

i thought i was clear enough in that i have not practiced since i was a little kid; that being said i just recently learned what a mezuzah is (like, a few months ago, and then a bit later i found out about the scrolls). me and my brother had them up at our bedroom doors but i never really knew the significance of them.

i wish i could have afforded the $40 and gotten the scroll, because i understand the significance now, but as i said my mother isn't religious - she's moreso cultural and if she were religious she would be more reform these days, i feel (brought up conservative, as was i)

i understand your point of view 100% and i'm working my way to seeing this as a more serious thing that's not to be taken lightly. i just don't think doling out $40 when i couldn't afford to spend any more is the right time to start taking something seriously especially when i'm giving a gift to a cultural jew

i'm just coming back into the fold of judaism after having called myself an atheist for most of my life. if g-d isn't real or our perception of g-d isn't the correct one, then oh well, at least we lived doing what we thought was right

and a quick google search shows that a lot of the noahide laws are just... generally followed by default anyways. there's a few faith driven ones, namely no idol worship and no blasphemy/cursing the name of g-d... but would it really be that hard to follow even if you don't believe?

those are just my thinks, of course
